WTB: Black Solstice Boomerang
« on: May 07, 2012, 06:40:37 PM »
I know this is a long shot. I don't think I've ever seen one on ebay or anywhere else. I know the N/A was offered in Ebony/Sand as well as just the Ebony that the GXP was offered in. It is also mu understanding that in that option the boomerang was black.

I'm just putting this out there to see if anyone has one to sell. I have 2 grey ones (one scratched up really bad) that I could trade in addition to give some money on top of if the person is looking for one to paint.

Thanks!

It appears that the "black" boomerange won't really match the interior of the Ebony option. Too bad. I might still be interested in one for the right price though, so if you have one let me know.

I still really like Morfious' black boomerang.  I think with all our recent conversation on plistidip I think I've found my first victim.

I had considered that as well. I did the center part of my automatic shifter in plastidip. LIke you after all the talk about it, I had thought about it, but with it's durability not being all that great, I think the boomerang would be a lot hard to remove and refinish. But it may be worth a shot. I have a spare so maybe I'll paint it this week :)

Thanks Critterman,

I thought about that as well, but figured it would be cheaper to paint it or just buy the black one (Which is probably not an option anymore). I also plan on having JPM do a large amount of my interior and didn't want it to be a sea of leather/alcantara. I though having the boomerang in either paint or stock. Basically I want the rest of the dash in Leather and the boomerang not in leather. I believe I got a rough quote of close to $7k for JPM to do my whole interior so I am looking to save where possible while still upgrading the interior.

They can make it plain Jane, roll and pleated, tuffed, what ever you want, and the boomarang isn't really that expensive.  Mine has a silver diamond stitch.

I just read a thread on the other forum where someone said JPM actually recommends against it due to the care needed to keep it from cracking peeling (specifically around the buttons). Being in FL, it would see more than it's fair share of sun and that worries me. Here is a link to the thread that discusses it:

I'm not saying it's not an option, but that does worry me a bit due to the area around the buttons/knobs. I wouldn't mind seeing yours though if you have any pictures (or a link to pictures)

I see someone refering to Joe saying, but i don't see Joe saying it.  I know that he has done many boomarangs in leather.

I don't remember who but someone had theirs hydrographicly printed and after seeing it in person I thought it looked really good.  If I remember right he said it wasn't really expensive either. Maybe something to consider.   You could get real imitation wood veneer, now if only we could still get "fine Corinthian Leather."

I"ve thought about that as well SA. I think someone relatively close to me in FL does it. I was thinking of having an Ebony wood print done (as long as it looked really really good)

I can say it turned out really nice.  Maybe he will see this and post some pictures so you can see for yourself.

Wish I could find an engine turn applique, closest I've seen is engine turned vinyl.  Nicest looking dash kits & selection I've found are  Dashkitspecialties.com but they don't offer an engine turned style.

Received an email for DKS regarding request for engine turn design.  Nada.
