OK... so I've had a bit of a mishap (to be explained a later date when I have more time), and am in need of a new differential.

I looked up the part on GMparts (direct) and there are two versions, listed this way:

1) CARRIER Solstice; 3.90 Ratio; w/Limited Slip; Manual Trans; 1st Design (25968531)

2) CARRIER Solstice; 3.90 Ratio; w/Limited Slip; Manual Trans; 2nd Design (25968533)

No part numbers listed in the catalog, but if you add the items to your cart you can often (as in this case) see the part numbers.

So... what's the difference, and how to determine which one fits my VIN?

There are actually 3 different versions of the differential depending on when the car was made.

Also, why are you looking at a 2.4L differential? The GXP would have come with the 3.7 rear end in it.

Also are you manual or automatic?

It's a manual.

I'm going from what GMparts (direct) listed when I selected the 2.0L engine.  Those options are shown under GXP.

I'm also in need of the Driveline Support Bracket (that's the cast piece that the torque beam attaches to which attaches to the differential).  Any idea if that changes with the three different options?

How do I determine which I need, or understand the differences?

Not sure why GMParts (direct) has the 3.91 listed for the GXP... but the 3.73 w/ LSD that I need is part number: 2598536
The driveline support bracket is part number: 15911885

Does anyone know if the open diff and the LSD diff use the same case?  It just so happens that my local dealership has an open diff case from a CTS that they did a swap on, and the tech (who owns the car they did the swap on) is willing to sell me the case... which will cost a heck of a lot less provided I can get all the internals swapped over and it fits.  There are no part numbers listed for the case via my dealership, as it's not a purchasable part.

Thanks!

As near as I can tell the cases are the same. Just the carrier is different. The CTS doesn't have the mount for the support bracket on the newer Solstice manual diffs though.
