New for 2013: fuzzy seats
« on: March 13, 2013, 07:23:42 PM »
Over the winter I had my good friend Mike from McElwain Upholstery re-cover my seats and DDM center console.  I was tired of the saggy butt patch in the drivers seat and all of the wrinkles on the seat bottoms, especially since my car only has 18,000 miles.  He did them in fauede (faux suede) and I think they turned out fantastic.  He did the center console to match, and added a thin layer of foam to it also so my elbow's not resting directly on the fiberglass.  He also did the grab handle on the dash, too.  Aside from classing the joint up, an added bonus is that I don't slide around during hard cornering like I did with the leather inserts.

(sorry my pictures are junk, I haven't been able to get any nice outside shots)

I eventually want to do the suede Corvette wheel and the JPM short shifter with a white shift knob.
If anyone's interested in contact info for interior work, let me know and I'll get you his phone number.  He's from Greensburg, PA, about 25 miles east of Pittsburgh.

Well - not to be indelicate, but - cost?

Looks great! The suede corvette wheel will really complete the look, something on my list also, but I want to keep my cruise functional and the vette wheel does not allow this. These forums are dangerous for me because I always see more mods I want to do with my car. I may look into this if the price is reasonable at an upholstery shop locally.

I too would like to get the 'Vette steering wheel but as I have silver stitching the 'Vette wheel won't match up.   :(

I'm gonna say it - but just remember I got a deal since I've known him for a long time, so anyone else who may get a price quote will probably get one that's higher - but, it was $300.

I plan on getting the Trifecta tune with the on/off switch using the cruise, so I'm not certain how I want to go about that yet either.  I'm probably going to get the wheel and dremel out the spot where the cruise switch goes (and then I'll probably end up buying another wheel when I ruin it).

$300 is a hell of a deal! I paid $275 just to have my armrest padded, diamond stitched and covered in leather. I have the trifecta tune as well and that is why I want to keep the cruise button. I was thinking of cutting out the spot for the button, but am concerned with it not looking right.

This isn't true.  I have the vette suede wheel and my cruise control works.  Just have to press the button down before you put the cover over it.  It is true that the way a Trifecta tune is set up it wouldn't work, but why not just have the Trifecta tune on all the time?  Or use HP Tuners...  The vette wheel is really really nice, I think it's worth the hassle.
