How old is my battery?

Someone on another forum was looking for information regarding the age of the battery in his car. If you have a car with a Delco battery and you aren't sure if the battery is original, this information will give you the build date of the battery.

From the Delco battery site.

How do I read the warranty date code on my battery?
The warranty date code is located on the top label of the battery. The first character is either a P or S. The next two digits determine the month, the third digit is year and the fourth digit indicates the manufacturing plant. For example, P 094N means the battery was made in September 2004 in the New Brunswick factory.

Chances are if you need to look it up your battery is dead and you will need to replace it out of your pocket

My thought was if you bought a car and after hearing  the problems an old battery can cause, you were wondering how old the battery was in that 6, maybe 8 year old car.

Not so much as to whether it's under warranty but how long it's been in there. Seen more than a few posts lately with people new to our cars that have wondered this very thing.

mine was replaced about 1 1/2 years ago because of 2 cells shorting out. they replaced it as defective equipment.

 Oh this is the first i've been on the forum from back in Dec.2013 don't know what happened but I'm Baaack until it goes out again

Thanks  and I'm OK I retired 3 weeks ago from the company and now everything is work for Cash. Still haven't got all of Pams estate settled or final . If anybody is into Si/Fi writers . She had tons of Robert Heinlein rare books , Carl Segan,Author C Clark novels for sale.

Oh and May be selling 2006 Jeep w/ small hemi an Loaded
