What is a good scan tool simular to Tech 2

Is there a good scan tool that can do the same functions as a Tech 2 but not for the same price.

Joe, what do you consider a fair price? You'd have to do some research to their functionality but there are Tech2 scanners out there for around $300. Likely knockoffs but they might do what you are looking to do.

I don't know if it has all of the functionality but i have been using the Torque App on my droid phone for about 3 years.  It can read all of the OBD2 codes plus it provides gauges and real time performance data.  For the price, you can't beat it.

I think I paid $5 for the app when I bought it and I had to get a bluetooth OBD2 scanner from Ebay for about $25 at the time. Now they are going for under $10. There is a trial version of the app available. 

Nice thing is that you can set up multiple profiles.  I have a profile for each one of my cars.

The guys at SAABcentral.com seem to think (and have some info on reliable sellers of) Chineese knock-off units work and are completely functional if you don't mind jumping through some extra hoops to get things set up.

Those units tend to run $250-$400 with all the doodads you need to hook it to a Sol/Sky.

do you have a link you could pm me?  I have a P2188 code I'm be dealing with for several months and I need to be able to dig down to find the route cause.  I don't trust any dealers around here.

You need a Tech ll to program a Saab remote. If I remember correctly it was something like $200 for Saab remote and programming.
