I've had this project on the back burner and decided it's time to get around to it. The Cipher seats themselves are nice for what I paid for them. They recline with no problem and keep me in position without allowing my upper body much, if any, lateral movement.

I removed the driver seat and broke it down to the steel seat bottom.

The issue from here is that it cannot be mounted in it's current state. It test fit it into the car and the whole assembly sits too high. I have to remove the center section to lower the seat. I will lose the seat height adjustment by doing so, but that's no big deal to me because my seat is always set to the lowest height. Now, I have to come up with a way to mount the seat to the outer slider rails. The Cipher seat has the 4 mounting holes on the bottom of the seat. So, my current thinking is to drill out the 10 steel rivets (5 per side/ 2 in front and 3 in rear) to remove the center section on the OEM bracket. From there I'm thinking of using 1" x 1" aluminum square tubing to fabricate adapter rails for the seat to mount to the OEM sliders. I'll have to cut out sections of the square tubing to effectively make it a "U" channel in order to install/ access the mounting hardware which I'll be using GR8.

Curious, but has it been determined that there is a seat that actually fits that doesn't block the rear compartment or hits the sides of the inside of the doors? These seats, although they look good, are horrible on a trip.

Helios, those seats look killer with your paint scheme.

I'm hoping they look as good inside as they do out. Thanks! The seat hits neither my center subwoofer or door. We'll see if that is still the case when I get it mounted to the slider frame. Have you made a long trip in these seats? I sat in it for a few minutes and thought they felt firm, but comfortable.

Very interested in what you find and hope it works for you. I was referring to the stock seat as far as the comfort remark. Starts hurting about two hours out.

You should be using steel not an aluminum materials in order to fasten those seats down....

The general problem with aftermarket seats is the upper bolsters being too wide, right? I see several companies list seat rails/slides for the Solstice. Or is there another issue I am missing?

Yeah that kind of sucked. I also didn't like that it felt like I was just barely tall enough to see out of the windshield.

You and I are at least tall enough to still be able to drive the car, Elff wouldn't have been able to see over the hub of the steering wheel.

Figured out the 1x1 wasn't wide enough. Found some scrap 2x2 "u" channel to use. Haven't had time to mess with it since Wednesday.

The 2 x 2 U channel didn't work either. It also caused the seat to sit too high. So, my third and final design was much easier. I ended up scrapping the idea of even using the OEM seat bracket/ slider. I instead used the sliders that came with the seats. They don't work as smoothly as the OEM slider which is why I didn't want to use them, but they will suffice. I only needed the mounting brackets on the bottom of each of the OEM seats. I will try and do a step-by-step of the process tomorrow.

I finished the install today. Once I had the design figured out, it only took me about an hour to rip out the old seat and install the new one. Overall, I'm very pleased with the look and definitely the feel of the seats. They are much firmer and my back doesn't hurt driving around in these. The wife liked them, too. Here they are fully installed.
