How to: Install HID Fog Light kit
« on: March 18, 2009, 03:29:05 PM »
Bought a HID kit for my fog lights and this is how i did it for those interested...

1)Unscrew the fog lights using a Torx screwdriver

2)Once both screws are unscrewed remove the fog lamp housing

3)Remove bulb from bottom housing socket
4)Unlpug bulb from socket
5)Install into housing socket.
(the kit I used did not use a harness like the kit for the headlights. Also the connectors to the socket differed)
6)Plug the red wire to the purple wire socket side(positive)
7)PLug the black wire to the black wire socket side(negative)

8)Mount the ballasts(I did mines near the headlight ballast)
Left Side

Right Side

9)Connect the all the plugs together
10)Repeat for the other side and then replace the fog lamps housing and screw back in

.....Thats it!! theres a screw at the bottom of the housing for those who wud like to reaim the fog lights, if you do reaim I highly suggest u make a marker of the orginal position jus incase you have to go back to stock bulbs

Comparison of HID vs Regular Bulbs

Before with jus fog lights on

Before with both head & fog lights on

After with jus HID fog lights on(actually on one HID bulb cus the other broke)

After with both HID head & HID fog lights on(only one bulb in)

What  brand did you get and what color temp?
Looks like Im going to do both and want them to be the same color temp and put out alot of light.  Im thinking of doing 5300K or 6000K and probably going to do 5300K and will put out alot of light.  I have the 5300K setup for both in my truck and I can tell you it's bright.

Its a off-brand but i got 4300k.....4300-4500k is the most light ouput(Luminus) in the color spectrum

Very nice!  I mounted my ballast on the same place but a little further down and I wish I had seen this post back when I did mine as I didn't pull the fog light assembly out, I did it all from the back!  Carved up my hands on that sharp metal but I'll know better next time!  I have the kit for my headlights to install too but that one seems a bit more involved.  Did you have any issues with yours??

I found the email from ABoyFrom1986 on one of the other forums back from Oct 2007 but these are the same ones I got.

I purchased mine from www.xenonrider.com

I got the Bi-xenon (low beam and high beam in one) H13 for my head lights. and I got the 880 kit for my fog lights both temp at 6000K

here are some links that takes you to a special sale on these HIDs....customer service was great and they are running free shipping (only took 2 days before I got mine in the mail)

It's jus as easy to do the headlight as it is for the fogs, probably easier b/c you dont have to remove any parts lol...The only problem i had wit mines is one bulb went out because it wasnt grounded right, but once it was grounded it was fine. Also they might flicker becuase of the DRLs so u can either disable them or get a relay harnest for it......i posted a how to for that too if u haven't checked it out already

Yes, I have your email on my home computer so I can disable them, I hate the DRLs anyway.  If it ever warms up I'll get them installed.
Thanks again!

I recommend to go with the headlights first. If you still want use of your High beams u have got wit Bi-xenon

I went with the fogs first.
Got them off Ebay for a killer deal for Xentec brand for under $60 shipped.
I'll probably do the Bi-Xenon for the heads since the guy has them also for a killer price of just under $100 shipped.
The guy has killer prices but is a tad bit hard to get ahold of if you need some qestions answered or there is a problem.

Actually really like them and will be doing the headlights soon and going with Bi-Xenon.
The guy goofed up and sent me 6K's instead but I'm getting used to them and actually like the bluish hue they give off.  On my other vehicle I have 5K's and they are white with no blue to them and that's what i originally wanted but these are just fine.
