Thanks to Jeff for the GXP-RCD and high flow cat install
« on: March 31, 2009, 09:10:55 PM »
Thanks so much to Jeff, Darren, Frenchie and the boys at Zorro Muffler in Welland for the care they took with my baby today. They took their time when doing the install of my GXP-RCD system and my Solo High Flow Cat. I had a blast!

TallCraig was able to join us for the morning. TallCraig hasn't got his NA Solstice yet as they keep putting the build date back. He took the old system off of my car.

Please don't take this thread as instructions to install the RCD on the GXP as I was just taking pictures at random. Full instructions, should you require them, are available on the Solo web site.

Remove the old system [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
Install the valance [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
Remove bottom motor mount [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
Unbolt the old cat from the top [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
After installing new high flow cat bolt the front section to the cat and install intermediate hanger [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
Hang the rear section. Covered tips so they didn't scratch the valance. [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
Minor adjustments to the valance [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
Got the centre section installed but clamps are still loose [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
Jeff held everything straight with some help while Darren tightened everything up with the impact wrench [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Thanks again to Jeff for coming down for the install. I would do it again in a heartbeat but I know from what I have seen, I won't have to.

Hi Bob, It was a lot of fun today. Thanks for coming down and getting it done! We all had a great time. Thanks so much for letting Darren take it for a test drive when it was finished. It's the first one for him and he loved the sound and the total transformation to your GXP. Norm's Diffuser looks fantastic on your car! He does great work. The color match is perfect and it looks like it was meant to be there. Thanks Bob! See you soon.
PS Nice driveway!

Thanks again eh Jeff. I really had a good time today and if I drive by and see your truck there I will stop by and say hi!

Darren is a great guy (although a little camera shy).  :D  Letting Darren take it for a spin was the least I could do after all the time, effort and care that he took with the car.

Thanks, I like the driveway but it's been down over 10 years and it does take a fair bit of work to keep it looking good.

That looks fantastic Bob.  The valance fits so nicely on there, it looks like it's stock, and the pipes are perfect.  It's also nice to see a fat-cat vendor turning a wrench too, although there seems to have been a lot of standing around and admiring going on! (kidding Jeff and Norm).  Nice job!

Yeah thanks Critterman. I saw yours at the Skyline Drive run last year and I thought so too. We may however be a little biased.  :D

It does sound great and it's a lot louder than the stock exhaust although I expect it to mellow over the next while.

Jeff at Solo says that this system with the hi flow cat is, on a scale of one to 10 with their Street Race system being a 10, a 7 or an 8.

The best way to quiet it down to about a 5 would be to reinstall the stock cat.

It's been a few weeks now since I did the install and it seems to me that it's really starting to mellow. The car hasn't really had a lot of miles on it since then as the weather has been spotty at best.

I love the system more than ever and if there is such a thing as a "head turning quotient" the number would be a 10!
