Bosch oil filters
« on: April 04, 2009, 08:57:11 PM »
I went to Auto Zone to get some Bosch filters today for the Solstice, they were on sale 2 for $10. I decided to look in the box. These are NOT the Bosch filters I have been buying from Rock auto, they look exactly like the Delco filters. The older Bosch filters were made in Spain by Hengst, and were the same as the K&N I compared them side by side. I guess I will stick with the K&N, they are a bit more expensive at I think $8 or $9 bucks from Amazon but you can just look at them and see they are a better filter, I showed one to Dark Tech, they don't look anything like the others.

Many years ago I worked at an auto parts store and when they switched the oil filter brands that they carried the parent company sent us new boxes so that we could rebox the remaining stock of the old brand in the new brands boxes.  Personally I thought that it was kind of like false advertising and would have been really pissed if when I got home I found that brand x was in brand y's box.

Sounds like a good reason to not shop at Auto Zone to me!

Make life easier. WIX. Their stuff is their stuff. IIRC, they are about $7 or so at Orielly's.

I am sure the WIX is a good filter but it looks nothing like the older Bosch or the K&N, it looks just like the Delco.

 WIX from WIX web site

K&N from K&N website.

The filter material is totally different, it is more of a honeycomb and there is no plastic piece on the top and bottom.
