Had to put DEVO in the hospital
« on: May 20, 2009, 05:27:58 PM »
DEVO is not well. Last week he lost his bladder control and started peeing everywhere I left him.
Noticed it in the carport first, called Deb at work and had her go check and sure enough he left a puddle there too.
The puddle in the driveway was mostly clear and slick to the touch, it didn't smell and had a very slight reddish tint to it.
The boy and I drove over to check it out. Looked at the power steering fluid and it was a little low, but nothing to worry about. Topped that off and got him home. Delivered him to the dealer on Monday morning. He has been there ever since, and is not leaving puddles for them. They think it is coolant and have left it under pressure overnight and still no puddle.
They drove it to get it good and hot and said they can smell coolant but can't find a visable leak. They put some dye in the coolant to help trace and indentify the leak if it ever appears for them. They are gonna keep him one more day and if nothing then I will just have to drive him until he starts up again.
Can't complain about the service, they are trying everything they can do. I just hate it when problems never seem to appear once you get them anywhere near the service area.
I will keep you posted on what they find, I am leaning towards water pump seal, but will just have to wait and see.

I hope they figure it out. I hate those problems that are hard to recreate.

I have seen a few reports of water pump issues with the NA's might be a good place to look for the leak.

They called this A.M. and they ordered the parts to do the water pump.
He said that it had been leaking and falling on the block and evaporating making it so hard to find.
Hopefully they will have it done tomorrow and he will be home for the Holiday Weekend.

Glad they found it, and now wondering how long until mine starts to leak...

Nor easy, JR did his himself...and had all kinds of difficulties with that timing chain.  Oh well, warranty is long gone, extended is also long gone, so unless I want to be driving the bus around to meets, I best set aside some car repair $$

Devo was sent home from the hospital today with a water pump transplant. All they said was they were pretty sure that was problem. I guess time will tell.
They talked about keeping him until Tuesday, but I told them Deb would hunt them down if he wasn't home for the Holiday weekend. The parts didn't come in until 1:00 P.M. and they had him ready to go by 5:00 P.M..
The threats worked!

I had to scramble to pick him up. I got to the dealers at about 5:38 and the service manager was standing there waiting to close up. I didn't get any paperwork on it yet, he just handed me the keys and away we went.
I will let you know, they should mail it to me next week.
