Sad Day Fellas - hit-n-run - Some people just dont care.
« on: May 28, 2009, 06:17:43 PM »
I didnt know where to post this so please move it if you want :)

Also, this happened yesterday.  :violin: Parked at work like I usually do for the past 3 years now (only 1 year with my sol though).  I was walking towards my car after work and here's what I saw.  No one saw/heard anything and there were no cameras to capture anything.  Screwed.

First i was like this  :(, then  :gaah:, then  with some  :censor:.  Then I  :brnout: cuz i was ....and you better believe i did a whole lot of .

Sorry about what happened, but it looks like a truck bumper been so high.
I would look tomorrow and see if there is a truck with some of your paint on it's bumper.
The person may not have realized it when it happened, hope that was the case otherwise.........

Do some CSI work, look around the area where it was parked. It looks rather commercial, are there any security cameras in the area that may have picked it up?

Yeah i looked around....the person 2 stores over only has a camera that captures the very front of their store and the gas station right next to me doesnt have cameras pointed towards where my car was parked.   There's a bank across the street but i doubt they'd even bother to check their cameras and i dont know if they even have any pointed my way. :(

I think this is just a case where I hope karma bites him in the a$$. :(

I agree .. with the exception on the "didn't realize it happened"... people just dont care anymore when something like this happens.  I was raised to leave a note on the car giving your information.

A few years ago my son hit a parked car ... nobody saw it happen - we could have just driven off... BUT, I made him write out the note with our info and leave it on the car.  The REAL  :censor: :censor: is that the car's owner had the gall to try and get previous damage repaired on our insurance!! Made me regret even leaving the note for a few minutes!!

Hope you are able to find out who did this and they make things right!!
Just here to help a friend!

Oucharama.  In the grand scheme of things it should be an easy fix though.  New bumper, trunk, rear quarter and light.  Its all bolt on stuff too so you can get the old insurance check and fix it yourself.  Use the extra on some mods.

You can cover up the light with the red plastic so you can make the strip on Wed though.

The trunk is fine, but the quarter panel did buckle in a bit so when i close the trunk it overlaps on the quarter panel.

This may be a dumb questions but do you guys think this can be repaired without replacing the whole quarter panel/bumper?  Maybe they can take out that huge dent and repaint that area??  I'd hate to have to replace the whole thing and not have my paint match :(  That's what im worried about too, paint matching.  If replacing and repainting is the only way then heck what can I do.

Where abouts in LA are you located. I'm trying to think if I still have a body shop I'm happy with down there...

Paint matching on dark metallics is easier than you would think.  When I bought my car the dealer gouged the rocker panel on the driver side.  They replaced it and the paint match went perfectly.  You cant tell.

Unfortunately the shop that did it was in San Diego.  I can get you their name if you want though.

As much as it sucks, don't let it get you down. You've still got a sweet ride and that other  :censor: is still an inconsiderate, irresponsible jerk.

 Here's to hoping that this turns into some sort of a positive for you.

Sorry about what happened, but it looks like a truck bumper being so high.
:agree:

Yeah, way high up. More like a stepvan maybe. If possible, check to see if any delivery trucks came through that lot today. If  so, tell them that you are coming over to take a look at that vehicle. If they balk hang up. Then call your insurance co and give them that their phone no; let them take it from there. Reputable organizations like UPS and FedEx seem to be good about reporting fender benders; but fly by night quickie delivery outfits not so much.

That is so unfortunate...people really do not care...makes you wonder if the driver even had insurance.  I am sorry to see this happen to a fellow Kappa owner.  I know a few who have experienced the same thing.  I would give the bank a shot and see if they saw it on camera.  You have nothing to lose.  Good luck!

Hope you can find them, same thing happened recently to our other vehicle. Makes you wonder about people's morals these days.

I feel your pain bro.  :cryin: Last year the Ghost was sitting in the parking structure at the Sherman Oaks Galleria in a "compact" spot. Some  :censor: A-Hole in a white Escalaid was parked next to me. Also in a "compact" parking space. Later I noticed a huge white gouge/scratch on my front fender just about where his bumper would have been.  :gaah: It's amazing that someone would park a battleship in a small space just to save them walking a few extra feet.

I remember my first car a 68 camaro, came out from work and some  :censor: backed into my car door. No note nothing, this was back in 77.  So nothing has changed, some people have morals and others don't. Everytime I park in a public lot I walk away wondering what she will look like when I come back.

Sorry you have to go thru this  :(

That seriously blows.  It doesn't matter where I park because someone in a big truck or SUV pulls right along side me.  I go to Lowes, park a mile away, come out and I can't see the car because a guy in a truck, pulling a huge horse trailer, pulls right next to me!!  Come on.

You are right Gary, some people get it and feel bad when they make a mistake, while others say F it.  Karma will get them.

I watched dumbfounded one day last year, as some idjut in a long bed, 4 x4 pickup truck back out of a spot at the grocery store, right into the front of a mini van. I was too far away to get his attention, but he was totally unaware that he'd done it  :banghead: :idiot: From my perspective it wouldn't have been obvious that he did, except I saw the minivan rock and move when he hit it. He drove off totally oblivious, and while I couldn't make out his license plate, someone closer did, and stuck a post it note with the info on the minivan windshield with a note describing the truck.
