« on: June 02, 2009, 06:26:56 AM »
I do have for years in every car I own. I only had to use it once to put out someone else's XJ6 Jag. They are on sale today on Woot 2 for $10 http://www.woot.com/ 1 day only, I ordered 6.

Thanks lil goat!  Just today, huh?  Well I am getting ready to go to K.U. today, so later on today, I am going to find the web site and order a pair, well maybe three for all our vehicles.  To be honest, I have never thought of having a fire extinguisher in Miss Red Eagle but...

I could have used one back on July 27th, 2005 when I hit a red Ford F150 truck head-on going to work driving my 1995 Firebird Formula with the 5.7 Liter SFI V8 280HP and 6 Speed Manual Transmission shifter.  God what a sweetheart, and the engine was steaming after both I and the truck ended up down a fifty foot embankment, and when the firetruck and ambulance got there it was a difficult deal.  I was in no shape to use it but just the though of it being there would have been comforting in other circumstances!  It could save your red neck!

When I was small, and we were on vacation, a man ran into a fuel pump at a filling station and the place went up in flames.  I have vivid memories of that.  Back then, no one even thought of the idea.

Well, lil goat, thanks for the big 10 4.  After we get to K.U. will order.  Thanks!!!!!!!!

If you are not familiar with Woot, they sell one thing a day, at usually deep discounts shipping is always $5 no matter how many or what it is. They ship big screens for $5. Once a month they have a Woot Off, lots of different stuff 1 thing at a time until it sells out, it is an addiction. I have a plug-in for Mozilla that shows me what is for sale every day. I think most of the time when you will use an extinguisher is to help someone else, but you never know. Very cheap insurance and these are small and supposedly idiot proof. The one I have in the car now is pretty large, be easier to carry 2 of these.

A few years ago I was heading home in my pipeline truck and was passing a park when I notice a 62 Chevy just pulling in with the tail end ablaze .. I pulled in behind him and emptied my extinguisher and another extinguisher from another guys railroad truck ..just in time to have the car blow up.. not one of those movie blow ups where parts scatter about  but a honest totally engulfed in about 2 minutes...the guy told me he just got the car from the shop where they did a total frame up restore..by the time the fire dept got there the only thing still good was the front end chrome...

They are handy to have in the garage and kitchen too, but only when my wife is making fried chicken  ;)

Now I used to buy a lot from woot but after they were bought out things seemed to change and the quality really went downhill.  I know a lot of this stuff is refurb but it should still work.  I bought 2 Kodak digital cameras, got them opened and neither worked but woot told me I had to deal with Kodak.  Called Kodak and they said these were old models and they couldn't help me.  Ever since then I stopped buying from woot.
