They actually don't look to bad but may look better if you replaced both.

I got mine from my brother. Oddly enough they are quite comfortable considering the padding is minimal. There is a year model break where they added more padding.05/06? These have it. The leg bolsters are a bit narrow for my liking. Nothing a torch & a bottle jack won't cure. (I hope) For grins, while I have the skins off I can get GXP stiched on them.

Already did the wife's test fit. Now I need a good source for seat rail glides so I can have some degree of movement.

Did these mount directly to the stock seat tracks? I have yet to find a seat that will, and thus seat belt mounts become an issue.

I'm looking at racing seats because my leg bashes against the door when making hard right turns at the track. problem is most seats don't fit. and it's hard to get in and out of bucket racing seats in such a low car.

Try a pair of volley ball knee pads. Looks sissy, works GREAT.

Here is a photo of how close the Solstice seat rails & Elise seat frame are for a somewhat lower than stock power seat height. Not quite a direct bolt on but close enough to fab bits to bolt on, rather than weld, in case its necessary to reinstall the stock seats.

Please clarify "somewhat lower than stock power seat height". I don't have a power seat, but I HATE sitting in a "bathtub". If you would be kind enough to indulge me, could you throw a long pole, or other object, on the doors and across the passenger compartment and measure the distance to the seat base? That would help a BUNCH. I am not at all concerned with "comfort" on race day as it is easy to swap the seat when I want to. How did you deal with the seat sensor for the airbags?

BTW, how in the hell did you find out about this?

My understanding is that the only sensor is in the passenger seat, correct? He may not have run into that yet...

Really? I'm not saying you're wrong. Hell, I don't even have one of these yet... but it doesn't make a whole lotta sense to me for 2 reasons:

1) Why would you need to detect that there's a driver?
2) I thought that's why people were complaining about the driver seat getting saggy... Norm's fix was to add padding, I thought because the passenger seat had the added sensor hardware, but they used the same frame/padding on both seats...

Again, I could be wrong. If you've either seen it, or seen the wiring or whatever, I believe you. I was just under the impression it was passenger only.

LPT, you are correct, there is no seat sensor on the driver side. At least the 06 doesn't.

The driver's seat is wired for chime & seatbelt warning light only. I'll probably install the airbag sensor from the passenger seat if surgery is successful.
24" top of doors to seatbase. Thats about 2 1/2' off the floor. Thats about as low as you can go before hitting the seat lever bar under the seat bottom. This is at bathtub level & close to snorkel level.
The first time I sat in an Elise I knew I would be replacing the stock seats with a set. Then as luck would have it my brother got an Elise for auto-xing. Auto-xing & 3 point seatbelts suck,( hint, hint) so it was only a matter of time.

How are the side bolsters compared to the stock seats? I keep hitting my knees.

My only issue is the narrow leg (side?) bolsters. They hold you well, but of their 3' depth they go from 13" to 15" at their highest point. 15" is too narrow for me.(6' 2" 190 lbs.)My plan is to flare them out with a torch & a jack, otherwise I'll cut the wings off & rivet them on further apart.
Are you are hitting your knees from sliding around on the stock seat? The upper & lower body don't move in these seats.

Yeah sliding even with a CGLock on the stock seatbelt. it really hurts! i really don't wanna spend 700 bucks per seat for racing seats. that's a lot of moolah

If you are racing rather than the ocassional twisties, troll the lotus sites for Exige seats instead. They have holes for a harness. These will a bit tougher to find.
Without a harness you have to support your upper body with the steering wheel,ok,really your arms, which should be used primarily for steering. Your legs should should be used solely for the obvious not wedged somewhere pulling double duty as support. Fatigue rate drops way down too.
