Wester's Garage Dealers, are they worth using?
« on: July 07, 2009, 01:41:32 PM »
So I see there are some Authorized Dealers for Wester's Garage, one that is only 45 minutes from me.

Says they have: DPS-LS1 Programming Software and DPS-LS2 Programming Software.

What does this mean and is it worth going one of these guys?

The remote dealers are for the Diesel engines, Lyndon is the only one tuning Kappas

The one in NY has the following products, looks like they are for gas trucks, not just diesel.

-Dual 87-91 Octane Tune -- Our basic working truck tune automatically adjusts for octane it has many improvements over stock. Using the higher octane will usually increase the gas mileage in all our tunes!
-Dual 89-93 Octane Tune -- Automatically adjusts for octane. More performance than the 87-91 tune, but requires using 89 minimum octane. (These dual octane tunes are recommended for all dual purpose (work/play) trucks.
-91 Octane HOT Tune -- Much more aggressive than the 87-91 dual octane tune. (Recommended for performance trucks where higher than 91 octane fuel isn’t available, like in California.)
-93 Octane HOT Tune -- Much more aggressive than the 89-93 dual octane tune. 93 octane is recommended. (Recommended for performance trucks. No, or very limited, heavy towing or hauling for both these Hot tunes!
-Dual 89-91 Octane HOT Tune -- The most aggressive and hottest tune available for 91 octane limited area’s! Eliminates pinging issues with some engines running 91 octane by automatically adjusting to 89 octane tuning if pinging is detected. 91 octane is recommended. This option is Recommended for performance trucks. Extremely limited heavy towing and hauling!
-Dual 91-93 Octane HOT tune -- The most aggressive and hottest tune available! Eliminates pinging issues with some engines running 93 octane by automatically adjusting to 91 octane level tuning if pinging is detected. 93 octane is recommended. Suitable for areas where 93 octane is available, but this tune will run fine on 91 octane occasionally. This option is also Recommended for performance trucks. Extremely limited heavy towing and hauling!
-E/P Tuning with 3Dmapping -- This is brand new technology developed by Lyndon Wester. It gives you the highest possible gas economy and the highest performance, all in one tune! This optional tuning can be added to ANY of our tunes, right on up to our dual Hot tunes.

They are great for what they do, none of them can do a Kappa, Lyndon has sold no licenses for it. The dealers have purchased his software for tuning and licensed different vehicles, just like a Pro Version of HP Tuners.

LS1 and and LS2 are GM gas engines, Lyndon wrote a tuning package for most GM Motors before there was an HP Tuners, it is professional use only and expensive. Very good software if you need a Vette or a GTO tuned.

We may get a G8 which has an LS2 varient (L78) or an LS3

what I am most interested in for that car is tranmission tuning for the automatic. Need to get it to lockup faster and change shift points

I tried reading a G8 GXP last weekend, HPTuners wouldn't pass a security check and cancelled the read.  The GXP version has a LS3
