Goat:

Could you clarify "busted fuel pump?"  What happened, how did you notice the fuel pump failed, what were the symptoms, etc.  I'm trying to keep track of all 1st time failures being mentioned on the forums for future reference.  Thanks
Frank I

I was in the middle of an auto X run, going for the track record, the reduced engine power showed up on my DIC, and I threw a cel. I read the cel with my dashawk, it said fuel rail low pressure, I don't remember the cel 258 maybe. It was in limp mode, I drove it home about a 1000 miles, not really but it sure seemed like it. Dropped it off, the dealer said GM said replace the high pressure fuel pump and fuel rail, the pump is in waiting on the rail. That is pretty much it, if it goes you will know it instantly.

Don't feel bad...last night I was driving home and decided to pin it...and the amount of power and vibration from the exhaust actually slipped the clamp off the rear part and my exhaust came undone as I was driving...simply from flooring it...time for a new clamp!  HA HA

Just curious, what kind of HP gains are people seeing with the Race Tune?

ddragon, Here is my before and after dyno sheet.  Sorry, it's only a scan of the printout, but this tune was done, on the Westers dyno by the man himself :D  I'm lucky enough to live about 5 hours away from Westers  :dancing:

This was done on an 07 GXP with a SOLO cat and Mach exhaust, and a K&N air filter.  No other mods.

Thanks for the chart.

I'm going to be placing my order for the HP Tuner today and hopefully have it for the weekend. And then I'll contact Lyndon or Eileen and get them my stock tune and maybe the following week get everything setup.

Looking forward to this!

I was about to order and re-read an email I recevied from HP Tuners... what did Jay mean by this:

You can purchase either the MPVI Standard or the Pro directly through us, or
through a reseller.  We build to order and ship in 5-7 days, and the
shipping is UPS ground.  Resellers can get you product more quickly, as well
as offer calibration support, which we do not.  If ordering directly, please
do so here:  http://www.hptuners.com/order.php

What's calibration support?

Thanks for posting your sheet IMAJ....it would be helpful as well if you could update your profile to show us what your car is.  It only takes 30 seconds, and is very helpful for posts like this.

Thanks Imaj,
That looks good and you have the same exhaust as I do. What do you think of the Solo Cat? I know it's bigger than stock. Did you notice a change in performance when you had it installed? I found my solstice redlines MUCH faster.

Stupid Question
« Reply #38 on: July 28, 2009, 09:09:46 AM »
OK, this will seem like a stupid question but... the stock GXP is rated at 260 HP, but your dyno MAX HP is 265? Now I know we are taking measurements from different sources.... ie. crank vs. rear wheel.

So... is the claimed 260 HP for a GXP crank or rear wheel?
And ... is the dyno chart HP crank or rear wheel?

I know the westers tune is supposed to bring you up past 300 HP, is that crank or rear wheel?

Sorry for the newbie questions, but these two usually confuse me.

DragonSol....Great questions.

1.) Yes, the stock 260 HP of the GXP is crank. At the wheels, the stock GXP will show around 210 HP at the wheels. That number will vary a little.

My numbers from the dyno are wheel HP. To throw a bit of a curveball at you...That dyn run was performed before and after I installed the SOLO high flow cat. So, I am sure the numbers are a bit higher now that my car has had time to learn the new mod.

2.) Different dyno's will produce different numbers. So, numbers will very. But, as you can see...with my mods using a dynojet dyno...I am getting 265 at the wheels.

One other thing here...I am not much of a HP nut. But I love my torque and getting 336 is huge! That is a BIG plus with the Wester's Race tune. When you get yours...that will be the main reason for the smile you cannot get off of your face. :)

Enjoy your new tune. It is a huge mod for the price.

Declared power for a car is at the crank generally.
Also dyno generally is power to the wheels.

Notice "generally" word :D

See here my STOCK dyno:

They said that the power is to the crank  but of course, I can't argue that is a crap dyno but this is Romania  :ro:

I did notice a bit more torque on the low end. Another thing I have noticed is the new high engine temps. Ouch! So, I need to find a solution for that.

Thanks for the explanation, 55 extra HP. That's really good. Although I don't know how the increased HP is seen. You're right it's torque you "feel". For me it's how "quick" can a car go from point A to B in 60 seconds  :D So I guess that would be related to torque and not HP?

It seems everyone talks about HP but not torque. What that old saying? You buy HP but feel torque?

Just heard from Lyndon, boy he's fast! Expecting the HP Tuner next week. Then I'll send Lyndon my stock tune and hopefully get it all setup by the following weekend.

If you take the factory hp and divide it by your stock dyno run you will get some idea of what the new numbers at the wheels mean.

260/210 = 1.23

Now if you take imaj wheel HP and multiply it by the 1.23 you will see he has 325/326 HP at the crank.

confused yet?
