what would you do in my shoe's?????
« on: October 11, 2009, 04:51:06 PM »
:madcurrently my car is at a ford body shop to be fixed from hitting deer and being backed into and wrecking the hood. i asked the shop to replace the standard hood for an rk sport ram air on do the rk sport spoiler norms side skirts front splitter and replace the NA bumper for a GXP one. my fried went in to check on it because iam currently deployed to Iraq and one of the workers commented that if i wanted to add the skirts spoiler etc... that i should take it to a toy shop to do it and if i were there he would pop me one. not going to lie if he told me that to my face it would be on right there. what would you guys do in my shoes? iam thinking i can complain but what will it gain me. the thing that p***es me off is that last time i checked thats what body shops do.. help me out please guys and gals.. :gaah:

thank you much

I'd get your car out of that shop and into another one asap.

Sounds like an inept shop that doesn't want to admit they can't do skilled work.

ya the only issue i have with going somewhere else is going to be it goes into paint monday first thing so not really able to call it off. i also think they just don't wanna admit it either. when it comes out though its going to be nit picked to death. my best friend will be looking at it for me and our other friend who is one of the best air brush/custom painters in the area will be going over it. idk if its done good then so be it but if its all jacked up then iam not paying for crappy work. this shop did insurance work for me before so i hope its good. the other times its been there it was done right.

Coming from someone that's also overseas, away from their car:

As for the guy, he's just talking smack because he knows you're not there to put him straight.  I give props to your friend for not knocking his block off right there on the spot.

I would have your friend lodge a written complaint against the worker and make sure he adds the fact that he threatened harm against a deployed military member.  The management will probably act on that quickly.

After that, let it go.  It's not gonna do your career any good to go find the guy and beat the crap out of him.  Besides, with the way he talks smack, it's only a matter of time before someone else does it!

Some of you guys seem to have anger management problems.  If you respond to everyone that disagrees with you by offering physical violence, you'll have a rocky path through life.

You can't expect everyone to agree with your taste. Some people will inevitably think that what you want to do is silly, ugly, whatever.

What you SHOULD be able to expect is that anyone that you are paying to do a job for you will NOT give voice to these opinions in front of their patron or his representative, your friend.  The guy at the shop is clearly a jerk.  Jerks are all over the place and part of the reason they are jerks is that they often don't know when to shut up.

Let them finish the paint job and have your buddy make sure it is up  to your standards, but don't use them again, and once you have the car back, tell the owner that you will not be using them in future, nor will you be recommending them to any friends, and then tell them calmly why not.  I expect that any business owner will have words with their tactless employee pretty quickly.

If this offends you iam sorry iam not intending to offend anyone just blowing off steam.

its not that we have anger management problems but its that well we are institutionalized and well some of the thing we have seen and gone though for the citizens of the United State's then you got some A hole that knows your deployed and acts like that. i get asked to do things that most people cant imagine doing them selves like for example i have to be able to tell on of my Soldier's to put him self in harms way knowing that my choice to send him left instead of right could cause his family to receive a folded up flag. we have to live with that. and all we the 1% of american citizens who serve is the normal respect nothing more then the average citizen and do we get it no. for example we are trained and expected to carry loaded weapons in a different country do the right thing kill some one only if it falls with in the rules of engagement guidelines, take a Enemy in to custody if he is unarmed even though he just killed your best friend with a road side bomb and show the restant to not kill him right there well to me that is pressure what we do there is no amount of money we can get payed to make up for it. but yet i got to apply for a concealed weapons permit and low and behold i can't get it or it takes way longer to get cause iam a Soldier, car dealerships take advantage of us cause we get a steady paycheck and don't care if we really can afford something but yet they hide behind the sign that says we support ower troops i say whatever. bottom line is all we as service member want is the respect and to be treated like a normal citizen should be treated nothing more. i know most of you if not all of you on here do supports military to 110% and for that i thank you from the bottom of my heart its people like you we do this for. As for the car dealerships who truly support us i know there are some and thank you too. the fact is there are more of us who support the military then not and thank you again to those of you who don't open your eye's and see the world for what it is.

Hammy,

I think what some folks are getting at is - over there, you do what you need to do.  We all thank you for that.  Here, the battle is different.  Much more will be accomplished by not giving that Aholeo buisiness in the future and spreading word of mouth, rather than spreading blood.  Also, if you have had success with this dealer before, it may be worth mentioning after you get your car back that this is your first bad experience if that is the case.  The a-ho your buddy dealt with could be a new employee.  If you have gone back to this place multiple times, you must have had some good dealings with them.  Give ownership a chance to make it right.

And when you see that zipper head out on the street and you are out of uniform, pop him one good.  Or, just blow the doors off of his suped up bicycle.

Buddha.

Just my opinion, but I think if you took a poll here you would find that more of us served in the military then didn't. At least that's the feeling I get from the people I talk to. Many of us did tours overseas, many of us were in the quagmire in southeast asia and were treated horribly even after we returned home. We really do understand the frustration of having to deal with these kind of issues from afar.
More then anything else, you need to know that we support you and the job you are doing, we did it before you did. If any of us can help please let us know. I have 2 sons in the military and a future son in law in AIT. I did 12 years myself, and still work for the federal government in another capacity.
Thank you for your service, each and every one of you that are still protecting this country, from all enemies, foreign and domestic. :us2: :us2:

Many of us did not serve.  But that does not diminish one iota our respect for your honorable service, or how much we deplore those who take cheap shots at those in service.  There is no excuse for the shabby treatment you have received.

Most in civilian life respect the job our men and women in uniform do day in and day out.  Personally, the extraordinary burden of life and death responsibility and tough instantaneous decisions you young people carry each and every day under the most trying circumstances, makes me very proud.  Our citizen soldiers are an example to the world, and they deserve our utmost consideration when they reenter the civil society they sacrifice so much to defend and protect.

But, sir, there is no reason to even think about soiling yourself with violence against that low life dumbass who is not fit to empty your latrine. The rule of law and civilization is part of what you lay your life on the line to protect, and there are better ways of dealing with such dirt than staining your honor.

Kind of sad to read this,
I suggest you let this pass, keep your thoughts on  better  more deserving things. it is a shame he has brought a negative thought to one of your passions (and mental escapes).......
I would like to think the inconsiderate body man was just trash talkin' and would in retrospect reconsider his inappropriate statements........especially the just silly physical threat...... he/she has shown little tolerance for tastes other than his own.......as a professional it is his job to install the desired body effects and make them fit and look perfect, it should be of pride in his own skills........

keep up your great work and most of all get home safely. First  stateside beer is on me.....
