Hood with single ram-air nostrol for Solstice?
« on: November 02, 2009, 03:04:05 PM »
I've been looking for a ram-air hood for the solstice with a single open nostrol for ram air and can't seem to find one.  RK Sport looks like they make exactly what I want, except it's for the Sky.  The hood RK Sport makes for the sol has a dual inlet for the ram air.  Anybody know of a company that makes one?  Would I be better off buying just a hood scoop and getting a body shop to throw it on there?

Ideally, I would want it to be somewhat similar to what I have on my car.  This way, when they're side by side, as pictured below, they'll match even more!!!

Nope, no one makes a single scoop.  That doesn't look lika a stock hood on the Z06 either.  I think you should also paint the inside of the GXPs headlight bezels yellow too.

Doesn't that ricer 2.4 Sol in our area have a singe hood scoop? Something tells me it's a stick-on scoop though...

Stick on hood scoops are unspeakably heinous.   :barf:

If you get one, please do not post here, or your eyebrows will be singed.   :f:

Thought I saw a single scoupe on a red sol?  Custom job and I think it was for sale?  Looked like nice work, will have to search around for that .... not sure where... I will get back to you.

I agree, though it's probably the high point of the car in question...

that's why i really want to avoid getting just a hood scoop.  when i bought my mustang GT 5 years ago, it had a stick-on from the factory.  i had quite a few people ask why I put it on.

i think i remember googling for some sol aftermarket stuff and saw one of the LS2 kits that came with a nice hood that was similar.

deep, that's just an aftermarket hood.  i wish i bought a z06.  i found one for a great deal MAYBE a month after i bought my c6.  that's usually how things go though.  but i threw a vortech on there so i'm perfectly content with the performance now. :)

I'd love a hood with a scoop similar to the Z06. Would buy it.

Patrick's hood is sweet.  You'd have to have a custom one off made.  Get with a shop who can do it with the possibility of making a mold, he would be able to sell quite a few...

you know, the nicest hood I've ever seen on a vette would look even nicer on a sol

it was double nostrol cowl induction, the double hump would go perfectly with our double hump rear

I'll try to find a pic and maybe someonce could do a photo shop for us

[edit]

this is close, the first pic, this is a squared version of what I saw, imagine that double cowl but smoothed out, that to me is perfect for the sol

Spicy had a single stick on scoop. I thought it looked great.

To each his own.  Beautiful form follows function and a non-functional press-on scoop does nothing for me.  But I don't have to look at or drive Spicy's car.  So it works out well for everyone.

Yup, wanted it. They're not building it. Too much up front cost with no guarantee of recouping it.
