Google Chrome

One of our members is reporting a password problem with the site while using Google Chrome.  Is any other members that use Google Chrome have any issues with KP?  I don't have Chrome installed.

I had to reset my password to 8 digits. KP didn't want to accept the 6 digit password I had been using. Then Google Chrome worked . In my opinion  "Google Chrome" is a much better browser  Internet Explorer. It is faster and without the little hangups I experienced with IE.

There is no reason to switch to anything other than Firefox.  I agee with Kelu.  No worries about spyware.  I just delete all private data on exit.  (with the exception of password sites)

It works perfect and does not keep secret data on you and send it back to the evil microsoft, and does not allow many damaging programs to be secretly installed.

i've never had a problem with chrome with this site.

chrome is a nice browser if you have a pretty slow computer, especially a netbook.  it has very little overhead and memory usage.  a lot of it's functionality is broken though, which made me go from using chrome, to firefox again :)
i still use chrome on my netbook though since it's a really fast browser with essentially the bare minimum to run :D

I personally like ie better then all comers, firefox comes in last, google comes in third, opera comes in second, firefox being the most crude, google being the least convenient for me and opera not handling the most sites/

all of the browsers are in a constant state of development so things might change of corse

browsers are nothing but preferance, some think theirs in particular is "faster, smoother, more convenient, less buggy", etc

technically, if you go to actual sites that measure speed you're not going to beat opera, which is neither firefox nor chrome

and those who claim one browser is more secure then another, the testing sites don't agree, the only sites that agree are those hat promote the particular browser

I have abasolutely no problem in ie with spyware or tracking data and for those of you that want to delete your record on your own box I know ie can do that in your preferances and I assume all browsers do not just one

as I said, give me my ie, which for me is far more convenient, far easier to configure and as a whole uses less resources on a windows system since it's part of explorer...you guys can load the other browsers and claim they're better, to each our own

I use safari, and haven't had any issues.

IE is by far the worst. The only explanation for it being #1 is it ships installed on all PCs. All IE does is steal ideas from the other browsers after a while.

Apparently it's the easiest to "control," which is why we're stuck with IE 6.0 at work.

Did I mention how much I hate IE?

Perris may I not be agree with you?
1) Internet Explorer runs on iexplorer process and not on explorer process, you don't save anything in matter of resources thinking that being SO built in, it' one of the most resource hungry browser as all Microsoft products
2) Different browser speed is there, google it and you will see nice comparatives, because every browser it has it's own core which interprets the code, the speed is not given by the transfer speed but to rendering the code
3) flexibility of the ie is nearly null
4) security, I would doubt even I didn't experimented myself but having Windows in background says everything for me

of course you can disagree with me

launch task manager, cold start ie and firefox, see which one uses more processor, which uses more memory, on my box firefox uses quite a bit more of everything

then as you suggested I did an internet search and pulled up the very first google result using "fastest browser" as my search term, came up with this

unless I am reading that wrong, ie is crushing firefox on every thing that concerns me;

Quote
Opera also is a clear winner using history. In fact, on Linux it is faster than Mozilla and Firefox for all except starting time. On Mac and Windows, Opera is faster than Mozilla and Firefox for all tasks. Surprisingly, Mozilla is faster at most tasks than Firefox (please don't send me any more emails about this line, I am well aware of why it is faster). Internet Explorer on Windows was either as fast as - or faster than Mozilla and Firefox for most tasks
btw, I don't know why this page has no google chrome but I'm pretty sure that would be faster then ie and firefox but not as fast as opera

so I wanted to see everything comparing to chrome so I searched and used the first result again

here chrome is doing better then everything with firefox pretty much losing to everything

as far as configuration, firefox does have a bunch of themes which is nice but I just love how I can configure ie better, that I guess is individual preferance

and I did not "shop" for a page that I would like I simply used the very first result on a google search, I'm sure you can find pages that boast each browser is best with their respecitve "benchmarks" proving it, the thing is firefox seems to promote "their browser is the best" more then anyone else and it seems like it's not even close

I think it comes down to this;

"whichever you like is the best"

it's all what you like when it comes to browsers

Interesting responses.  I wonder what would happen if Joe posted "One of our members that owns a miata is having problems logging in.  Anybody else with a miata have this problem?" :D

Cold start empty browser doesn't say anything as well as your car performance at idle doesn't say anything.
First result in a google search doesn't guarantees is the best.

flexibility is not referring to the design of the browser or other blinky cheese interface mods, flexybility is given by the addons which Firefox has.

We are two different types of browser's users, by mentioning themes as flexibility of the browser states your level of usage of a browser (even I might be wrong). I want more, more which IE or chrome can't offer and I'm not talking about themes here.  Stating IE is the best browser is something which I will not agree and I already pointed 4 simple marks which you wanted to interpret in your way.

it's just preferance kelu, I don't think ie is better or faster, I think it's better and faster for me, just as you are sure ff is better and faster for you

those test results from that page are pretty conclusive against your points, it says clearly "ie for the most part was "at least as fast or faster"...granted that was for his tests, I'm sure if he wanted to he could come up with tests where firefox was fastest

the only thing I didn't address in my post was ie security vs firefox and other browser, so here I went, once again doing a google search for "what is the most secure browser" and I was going to post the very first link however that link refered to microsoft testing, since that couldn't be trusted of course I didn't use those links

going to the first non microsoft test showed both browsers were secure

then I went to the the very first page who used a third party to find their results, those tests for securiy says ie 8 is the most secure browser, beating firefox and chrome handily

Quote
An independent security product company named NSS Labs has found Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 8 to be the most secure browser to date
...When it came to blocking malicious software, malware, IE 8 caught 81 percent of the “live threats” as compared with the 54-percent finish by the second-place Firefox

that's pretty clear stuff right there

the bottom line is ff is fastest or most convenienfor you and you are most comfortable with it as it addresses securiy, ie is fastest or most convenient for me, of this I am pretty sure we both agree

btw

with all those great benchmarks and acalades about chrome I went ahead and gave it another shot, the only thing for why I won't be using it is it's crude handling of favorites, when they allow me to configure the favorites suite the way I want I will be switching to that browser
