What kind of Car Enthusiast are you?
« on: January 09, 2010, 12:13:10 AM »
Each of us has an affinity to a specific species of Auto Enthusiast.  After observing the animal called "AutoEnthusiator" for some time, I have concluded there are certain behaviours that can be classified into different species, although there are common traits shared by all species of this animal.
Please have a gander at the various species of AutoEnthusiastor and kindly vote for the one that you MOST closely resemble.

1.  The Scientist
The Scientist likes to constantly mod and upgrade the car and loves the technical aspect of the entire experience.  The Scientist's main goal is to maximize the car's potential and to build a body of knowledge along the way.  You typically see these types of animals hanging around DYNO's more than usual and these animals usually have technical  or hands on professions.

2.  The Socialite
The Socialite likes to meet people and be seen with his/her ride more than the average person.  The Socialite will hang around coffee shops or car shows more than all the other types of species.  The Socialite will always have the cleanest most attractive car as compared to the other species.  More often than not, the Socialite will be driving around alone or with an attractive blonde in the passenger seat.

3.  The Road Warrior
The road warrior is always alone when driving.  In some cases the passenger seat has been removed.  The road warrior uses his/her car as a weapon and can always be found at the track or attracting attention on the street.  The road warrior is willing to absorb damage to the car to win the battle.  The road warrior has an Alpha Male mentailty and is a predator, so caution is to be taken when approaching this species.

4.  The Cruiser
The cruiser is a passive version of the road warrior and is less confrontational.  However, cruiser's can easily be provoked during high speeds so maintain caution when approaching.  The cruiser aims for the euphoric experience of winding roads and long drives.  There are an equal number of cruiser's with and without passengers.

5.  The Worker
The worker's primary objective is to make money in his career.  The car is simply an accessory that fuels passion #1.  In many cases the car serves as a pleasant distraction to the primary objective and when attention is focused on the car, it is served by the same high energy that fuels the passion #1.  It is this species that usually has the most resources to perform upgrades and in some cases this species has a fleet of cars to choose from when it chooses to get distracted.

It may be hard to choose, and many people would belong to ALL types depending on the mood of the hour, but select just 1 type and take a stand on who you really are.  Think of the type you enjoy most or behave the most like.

I would have to be a cruiser with attributes of most of the others rolled in there somewhere.
Just trying to do my part...

Got to be a cruiser, just love driving the car. Just make sure you remember the "cruiser's can easily be provoked during high speeds so maintain caution when approaching" part of the deal. I have been known to run with a few cars, just to see what they got.  :drive:

I would be the worker....love working for SOLO and enjoy cars for their true artistic representation.  A lot of what I earn goes into personalizing my car.

I would have thought there were more scientists on this forum as compared with the "other" forum.  I am wrong, there are predomiantly more cruisers that own the kappa's.  Where are all the crazy Road Warriors?  the ones that go to the track and race anytime they get a chance?  Kelu did you vote?

Actually, I think that you would find that all of us are a pretty equal combination of each of the various types, depending on the current circumstances. I have been known to do some of each, they all just seem to wrap into "cruiser" the best.  :2c:

I picked road warrior because I really am not into turning wrenches and tuning. I'd much prefer to focus on my driving skills.

Unfortunately my income level forces me to do a lot of learning and so I'm forced to be a scientist :)

If I have to accept these grossly broad classifications, I have to choose Road Warrior.  I seem to only get into trouble when I try to do my own work, so I am not much of a Scientist, and I do love to go to the track or autox every chance I get.  Anyone who has seen any of my cars knows I am not anally retentive enough to be a Socialite, and last time I went cruising with this group, I passed the Comedian and lost the group, so not much of a Cruiser, I fear.
