are there really any benifits to the new sensors if you don't have any mods other than a tune?  Seems like the factory sensors are suitable until some major upgrades - new turbo, bigger wheel, that sort of thing...  Am I wrong?

If you have the GMPP tune, you DO have the 3 bar sensors.

Werks claims they can get some serious HP from the GMPP kit, Wester's is still playing that's what you in the frozen North in winter. This deal is for someone who was going to get the GMPP from the dealer and does not have a tune, much better deal this way. You basically get HP Tuners for free.

Looking over the thread on the BB, it is apparent that Werks is selling PARTS and HPT, but not the GMPP kit. Actually, that makes all the sense in the world. If they can (and apparently they DID) tune the ECM via HPT to take advantage of the 3 bar sensors, the GMPP flash would be (and actually is) useless. Hell of a package.

Bob you are correct I should have said GMPP sensors and Werks tune, they also have all the parts as well. I had already bought the sensors and connectors, Dave sent me the O-rings for a couple of bucks. Lyndon will be doing my tune, when he is ready I will install it until then it just sits.

It would be interesting to know what Werks has done and what the results have been. Guess I will call them.

Okay, did so. Seems that to take full advantage of this package, an AEM boost controller/gauge and a replacement boost control solenoid are needed. They freely admitted that the turbo and head design are significantly limiting power. That said, it sure seems that with the above shown package there is some more umph.

Lyndon is among other things a machinist and quite adept at porting heads, he also has a flow bench. He has been chomping at the bit to do a 2.0 head for years. Any volunteers?

They used a base gmpp tune and then modified it with hptuners for some extra hp, hptuners still cant scale the map sensor but when you load a gmpp tune with already modified scaling it'll read the 3bar sensors just fine. It is a hell of a deal when you think about it, the tune is basically free since the parts alone cost $575.

What I'm understanding is you buy the GMPP parts and not have them installed by GM. Instead you use HP Tuner. Is that rite .With the GM tune installed what can HP Tuners do on that? when it comes to Electronics I am Lost .

With HPTuners, you can download the stock GMPP tune and a 'qualified knowledgeable tuner' can change some tables and get you more HP to the rear wheels.

Depends on what your definition of  "qualified" is.

There are multiple answers to that Booby, you can take it to a local dyno shop and have it dyno tuned, if you find the right guy the best way by far, you can pay Trifecta his normal rate for a tune and he can modify it or the same with Wester's. So which ever way you go figure the cost of an aftermarket tune on top of what you have. Unless you already had a tune then you add the sensors and pay what ever the retune cost is to the tuner. For me the parts cost me $75 and the retune from Wester's is free. So to go from a setup with the stock sensors to the 3 bar sensors with and aftermarket tune for me $75. I really hope someone buys the entire setup from Werks so I can look at there tune.

That would make the tune basically free, the sensors are 70-90 bucks and HPT is 500.

Best to ask the vendor if in doubt. Frankly, it sure looks like nearly a give away even withut the GMPP tune. HPT is at least $500 on its own!!!

Yes it a sweet deal, I already had the sensors and the HP Tuners and the tune, Dave from Werks charged me $1.50 to send me the O rings I paid more than $75 for parts by the time you figure in shipping but not a lot more.

This really does seem as though it's a heck of a deal but looks as though, from where I am sitting that Lyndon is the way to go for me. I am interested, as I don't put a ton of miles on my car, of maintaining my warranty and installing new 3 bar sensors without going GMPP would throw that away.

The most cost effective solution for me may well be the Westers tune as I DO have a second ECM. Smokin' deal here though for someone that isn't at all concerned about maintaining the powertrain warranty.
