Garmin NUVI 1690 review
« on: January 24, 2010, 12:59:48 PM »
I just got a Garmin 1690. I got it on E-Bay for $348. It has a lot of new features such as Google local to find movies and so forth. It shows the speed limit on the road you are on and your speed. you speed numbers turn red if you exceed the speed limit. It even shows the speed limit on these back country roads. The tools are nice. Every thing is very easy to use. It hooked up with my Blackberry easily. If you locate a restaurant or movie or anything like that, it shows the phone number and gives the option of calling it if you have Bluetooth phone paired with the Garmin. The volume is much louder than any Garmin I have owned. It is twice as loud as my Garmin 765. You can easily hear it above the radio. The EcoRoute feature Garmin is touting, I'm not sure how valuable that is. I can compute my fuel consumption pretty easily myself. Overall I think it is the best Garmin has come out with.
