False Alarms

It seems the security system on my Sol (factory stock) has a mind of its own & randomly goes off every once in a while. It was doing this a while back & then seemed to quit for a while & now it's at it again. Sometimes it will happen several times a day & some days not at all. :gaah:

Any ideas on this/anyone else have this problem???

Never had an issue, are you single clicking or double clicking when you lock it?

According to Joe, and seen with my own eyes, a single click doesn't fully protect the car, you can reach in and open a locked door with a single click.  Keep the fob out of your pocket for a few days and see what happens.

I single click my car, have tested it, and it works fine.  Wonder if some are not working correctly.

I bet its the old key fob in the pocket thing.  I have driven myself nuts at times with that.

JimmyBaja,

   Sounds like you have a keyfob with a battery holder thats loose . Open it up and check if this is the problem.  I  had the same issue with one of my Fobs.

Not 100% sure, but I think when you single click there is short delay before the alarm actually activates as indicated by the security light on the display & if you double click it activates immediatly & you get a single short confirmation from the horn. Also if you only use the power lock button on the door & not the keyfob I don't think it sets the alarm - you get no security light on the display.

As for the keyfob in pocket thing, that is not out of the relm of possibility but if that's the case it sure works for a long distance away from the car as I was about 75 yards from the car yesterday when it happened twice & I had to get closer to deactivate it with the keyfob.  :idk:

I do know that your body acts as an antenna for the fob, try unlocking it from a distance that won't work, then hold it pressed against your chin or chest and try it.

Just checked that, Battery is tight in there & solder joints look good also.

Critterman, I'll have to try that after work when I get home - don't want to look like a moron standing out in the parking lot playing with my keyfob.  :lol:
