Share your HP Tuners logs
« on: May 07, 2010, 04:29:26 PM »
I and a few others are very interested in seeing people's log results from HP Tuners Scanner. If you have a dyno to go along with it, that's even better. HPT logs is a great way to compare the different results of different cars with different mods and tunes. It can even be a way to estimate true power levels because some dyno results can be all over the place.

If there is another thread that is trying to accomplish this, let me know and we'll continue that one instead, but I didn't find anything.

If you can share logs from other systems such as DashDaq, go right ahead. I am not aware of the capabilities of that thing.

a great idea but I need to know what to log, dash daq might be able to do it but I won't know untill I see what those perameters are, the thread you linked doesn't give me that info

I can do , knock, I think fuel pressure or something to do with the fuel rails but I'll have to check and a bunch of other stuff, I can't log boost but so far all I get is 19 steady

For those who do not know, an HPT limitation keeps it from being able to log boost pressure over 255kpa (~22.3psi)  This is a method to fix that if you have the GMPP sensors, not sure if it works with the stock sensors. I am going to try it but just ran out of time.

http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29306

The other method is to do what shabby has done and buy HP Tuners pro interface and run a wire from your MAP sensor to that which should record it accurately.

Perris,  I have no problem logging boost with mine DashDAQ.  You have to set up a rescale calculator to derive boost from manifold absolute pressure minus barometric pressure to actually GET boost to display correctly, though.  I think there are several other parameters they're capturing with HPT that we may not be able to get with DashDAQ (like injector duty cycle, cam angles, VE airflow...)  I haven't had mine very long, but I plan on playing with it some this weekend.

Here's mine with a similar rpm point as Kenny's.
Btw are you still on the stock intercooler? Your iat2 temps are almost 50F over ambient.
Perris the dashdaq log viewer just came out check the forums, but its a pita to use compared to the hptuners one.

unlrdd they've updated the rescale driver for gm specific, I was the person they configured that rescale driver for

if it's the same and it's using the gm permaters, the readout is far to slow to mean anything

I'm still learning the ins and outs of the DashDAQ, logging, etc...  so I'm by no means an authority.  I'm almost certain that I used the GM-specific PIDs to input into my rescale driver, and it seems to be working.

I've downloaded logworks to view my logs, but haven't had time to really play with it yet.  Might check out the DashDAQ one.  Can you feed the DashDAQ data into the HPT viewer somehow, or does HPT use a proprietary format?

I know just enough about this stuff to sound stupid without realizing it .  I plan to have fun learning  :idk:

You can't import anything into the hptuners scanner, only export csv files which the dashdaq also exports. I also rescale gm pids with my dashdaq, not sure why you're having problems with it perris.

2k you don't sound stupid yet :) We'll let you know when you do.

perris, there is HPTuners online help. it'll explain what many of the parameters mean

Is the HPT log viewer a seperate program, though?  Or is it contained within the HPT scanner?  Can I pop a csv file from my DashDAQ into the HPT viewer (assuming I can d/l the HPT log viewer).  I'm asking b/c you said above that the DashDAQ viewer is a pita compared to the HPT one.  I don't want to waste my time learning to use logworks if the HPT viewer is the standard...

The scanner/viewer is one program, and no you cant import anything into it only export.
I wasn't talking about logworks, drewtech just released its own scanner in the beta section.

Guys, why we don't share csv?
We can check different values for different times (rpm). If we share printscreens we can see only an instance.

Kelu's right (hey, he was due!) The screen shots are like snapshots and the hpt files are like movies.  You can play the movie frame by frame, or share the .csv files for the same result.

I'm not sure if we can attach csv or hpt files in a post though.  I have not run a scan on my car yet or I would try posting it.

I agree with KWhale, on HPT forums, you share .hpl file which is the log and the cfg file. This way anyone can see whole values which owner decided to log.

Timing is very low for some reason, looks like lyndon dropped it below stock levels not sure why. Also think about getting an intercooler, your iat2's are 45 degrees over ambient at the end of the pull. There's still some airflow left in the turbo, another 4-5lbs/min if you want to push it.

If I pushed 4-5 more lbs/min wouldn't I have the same problems you have?

Maybe, but you'll never know until you try it. Tell lyndon you want some more boost past 4500rpm.

Isn't the timing changed to reduce knock? And won't my high temps cause knock?

Shabby how do you know Kenny is 45 above ambient? He shows only IAT2, only based on his location and the period of time?

Here is my latest 3rd gear pull.

Kenny also has the ambient temp sensor is in the table display, and its actually 50 degrees over. You're only 9 degrees over ambient thanks to the dejon ic, it certainly makes a nice difference. You're running a bit rich though past 5000rpm, falls below .8 lambda.
Not too sure about ve airflow, something about calculating the actual airflow based on the volumetric efficiency of the engine plus a bunch of other factors.
