Ha! Sage advice from a tried and true racer.

I will have to look at the launch control.

I am vaguely familiar with everything. As of now I am just having issues mostly with launching the car. I am afraid I will destroy the clutch. I plan to go to a SPEC 3+ eventually, but I would like to get some use out of the stock clutch before upgrading. I planned to get into hard launches more toward the fall.

Your post gives me some confidence to try a 3k launch on the strip now.

Its hard when you have friends with built evo's just torching me off the line with their 2 step launch control! My friend is still testing, but has his evo down to a 12.5s 1/4 mile.

My best launches were done with LC off but I do race on crappy surfaces, so don't expect miracles from LC, you have to learn to manually launch your car (dunno how to say it with legs :lol: ), in my opinion LC makes you consistent in launching, not a way better launcher.

Stop looking on EVOs, they have 4 traction wheels, that is a bid difference.

I would advice you to forget about LC, WOT Shift is more important in ET.

I just wanted to have an idea what a good "safe" launch speed was for my car. I have only gone down the track a handful of times, and I have never been happy with how I got off the line. I won't be able to get out this weekend, but I am hoping next weekend will give me a chance to get back out there on test and tune night.

Thanks for the tips Kelu :) I am really excited to get into some drag racing now that I have a group that goes. Hopefully I can find a good place to start learning auto x as well.

Before you go to drag strip, find a good road for practice, do a couple of test on road based on how car feels so you have a "base" setting. Only 1st and a short period of 2nd gear is enough and pretty safe.

If clutch slips on the road, forget about strip until you change the clutch.

I cannot launch higher than 2.5k on street tires, I just boil the rears.  And since it is impossible to drive around the water without getting at least one tire wet, I do a 1st and 2nd ger burnout after going through the water.

that you gxpripped?  so youre gonna run on e85 and break into the 12s?  i couldnt do it for some reason but maybe you can.  im hoping the wotbox can get into the 12s!
