Dyno runs & time slips...

HP was not as high as I expected but it IS an automatic so I guess that accounts for some loss.

I got assigned lucky #7, all 4 runs were in the right lane.
The first run I missed a shift...I know it's an automatic, don't ask. I still beat a v6 mustang.

Runs 2-4 were very consistent, I was pleased with the numbers considering what it is...4cyl auto.

The white Mustang was run #1

Run #2 didn't get pic
Run #3 was against a diesel truck, he smoked me all the way down the track...litterally.

Run #4 was against the yellow mustang, built from hell including full race slicks & straight race headers - streat legal my ass!!! Oh, and the driver was a hot blonde.

disel trucks with a simple plugin module from several vendors, and a big exhaust pipe can put enormous power and suprising speed.  The only teltel is the plume of black smoke.

dyno is in the right range high 130/low 140.

Times at the track are good, almost a second faster than mine totally stock, altho some of that could be that I hadn't been to a track in over 30 years.  My story and I am sticking to it.

BUT you do have to explain how you missed a shift with an automatic.  Our do we have to let BG come up with a story for you?

Jimmy,

I know how you miss a shift in the auto...  but I will tell you, prior to my TCM tune and even now, the best performance was always just to leave it in "I".  I assume you start in L and shift to I, but you shouldn't have to shift beyond that right?

Why even mess with the auto.  Just hold the brake and hit the gas, then let go of the brake...

Joe,

The trans will stay in gear an extra 250 rpm when in "I" and in Comp. mode.  Otherwise, your right.  Put in I and hold the brakes, rev to 2250 (Jimmy, you may be able to go higher until you bolt on your Superman Cape) then launch.

GJ
You got it GJ, I started in "L" & was so excited on the first run I forgot to click it up into "I"....untill the engine was yelling at me ssshhhiiiiiifffffttt!!!!!
Also I thought "I" only included 1st-3rd but it includes 4th as well - I never tried holding the pedal down in "I" untill redline before - that's when it will shift to 4th. I suppose I can just leave it in "I" the whole time now when running. The shift to 4th comes right at about 80mph, just before the 1/4 mile line.

The rev limiter on these cars works very well - the RPM's don't "jump" or cut in & out it just stays at a steady 7000. Also did you know that if you are in park or I suppose neutral also, you can mash the gas to the floor & hold it there - the RPM's will go to 4000 & hold steady there. Found out about this when I was reving & listening to the exhaust note - the ECM won't let it go any higher when not in gear. It may not hurt it but I don't recommend doing this on a regular basis.

Jimmy,

WOW, 13.9.  Very nice!

I had a Dakota R/T with a 5.9 for a while.  I loved that truck.  It was tons of fun!  And quick for a truck, but not as quick as YOU!

Wow, you are catching up fast, I need some power mods so my ET will not be blown by a screamer

What I can see, you have very similar 60ft times and me, I generally launch 2.0s on 60ft and with best of 1.90 and few 1.95, exactly same as in your case.

To compare times, even I know is not a great idea, I think you are right in the middle between my runs stock and tuned. I don't have official times when I was running stock but I think I was above 14s easily and after I tuned my ECU i got a 13.5s so you are pretty much in the middle which means a ton of power of that small screamer   . Very good upgrade

I still need to work on the launch some, playing arround with how much to power brake (how high to tach it up) with the auto trans.  :idk: don't want to be too rough on it. My friend was kickin my ass off the line but he had streat slicks & just installed traction bars, not to mention he goes to the strip all year regularly.

I think there is still room for improvement as is - the air temp was up arround 90, I screwed up & had a full tank of gas & I could use some better tires. May not add up to much but I'm sure I could shave off another tenth or so.
