Engine Temp with Supercharger???
« on: June 21, 2010, 10:39:51 AM »
Just curious as to what coolant temps everyone with superchargers installed are running.

I am ranging anywhere from 192-220 depending on driving habits. Running arround 194-199 on the highway cruising, 201-212 when driving arround town & 212-220 when driving hard & getting into the boost often.

These temps may be normal but I would like to see it hold a little lower when I start getting into the boost often. I'm thinking of going to a larger racing radiator but not sure if I need it. Any input would be appreciated.

Yup I am in the same range, usually 192 to 210, little spikes above if pushing hard with A/C on.

Same thing here, not sure about your ECU, but with mine you can adjust the fan speeds in HPTuner.

OK, sounds like the norm for what it is. Thanks for the reply.

Any input on Redline Water Wetter or RP's Purple Ice to help out a little bit?

Some people swear by it, I have never tried either.

Sorry drank a lot of purple jesus when I was younger  , but no purple ice. I wouldn't get to concerned about your temps since they are in a normal range, wise to use synthetic oils though as they are far superior in handling heat in a fairly high revving engine.

Yep, we used to call it purple passion or trash can punch, pretty much had everything in there including 190 proof everclear when you could still get it.

Thanks, I was using RP 5W30 & just switched to RP 5W30 XPR, figured it would be wise with the extra heat/power.

My wife and I drove both our Skys to Denver last year.  Her DDM stage II automatic ran two or three degrees warmer than my n/a straight shift.  Not enough to make much difference.  Making long climbs in the mountains we got above 200 but never reached 220.  According to Randy at DDM your ok until about 225.
