If I'm not mistaken, DashDAQ is all Linux-based.  I don't know my PC from Mac from Sun, so I have no real grasp on what Linux-based means...  or even if I spelled it right

and to really confuse 2kwk4u
Macs actually run on top of a form of Unix.
Kind of how the old windows used to run on top of dos
Only WAAAAAY better.

Dashdaq just took a major hit, looks like I'll need a PC to get everything out of it...

Never tried it...I've got a windows 7 disk I had planned to install, but I'm flat out of hard disk space. I'll have to see how that works.

The big problem is a fligh simulator that I use frequently, chews up about 90 gig. I've only got a 200 gig drive, and when you add my iTunes library to that 90 suddenly there's not a lot of room left...

I've got an external drive that I use, but it's a pain to use for everyday stuff.

You shouldn't need to use the dashdaq software every day... but anyway you're a smart boy, you'll sort it out.

Try running a flight sim like this one.

You'll need about 6 computers to do it if you want the visual like the one pictured. Oh and I bet you won't guess not even in a million years who did the mechanical design of that one.

Looks like something a 10 year old would build for the science fair.  Impressive for a 10 year old, but useless to anyone with any flight experience what so ever.

And for a mere million dollars you can get one for your 10 year old.  Your right about it being useless to anyone with any flight experience, the FAA bought two of them!

Look out GJ we just hijacked a thread by mentioning err plains the FBI and TSA won't be happy.

This thread was hijacked by Critter, not us.  He started talking about 7 windows.  I went out to the garage and checked, my car only has 4... I think he's drunk.  No way a kappa has 7 windows.  Even the coupe only has 4...

SA - those are only fun if they are gimble mounted, and you ain't gonna get that for a mere mil.  Oh and my guess for the mechanical design is in an asylum

Good on you, I'm guessing they were for commercial aircraft, as the military always pays a lot more for theirs.

Moby if you paid 5 mil for an aircraft device that doesn't actually fly I bet you would feel like you were in limp mode.

The trainer in the picture is a Cessna Mustang which is a small jet so it has turbine engines.  Does that help bring this thread back on track?

Hey, I actually flew the F 18 sim a couple of times.  Trust me, you could not afford one at a couple of mil.

As some of you know one of my sons flys f18 for the marine core and they had a parents day where we got to crash the thing many times.  It fits in a room the size of a gymnasium and has a bunch of computer guys working the thing.  Very impressive and able to make you very sick.  Trust me, I am an expert of putting it in a flat spin. and Nancy is an expert at not landing on an aircraft carrier.

The Marines also have a Jane Wayne day for wives but we never get to do that.  That is a day when they get to fire all kinds of cool weapons.  I keep trying to get in with a wig and a dress but so far no luck

Bless our troops
