Ok, just got the car back and it is running great and no smoke.

This is what the tech wrote:
Excessive play in turbo shaft causing oil leakage into intake system. Removed turbo hose and found excessive oil in cooler and pipes. Removed turbo and found excessive play in shaft. Replaced turbo.

12618667 turbo
12618586 gasket
12609878 gasket
12589435 gasket
12611119 gasket
12626102 gasket

Just incase some more turbos start to go. If you need the gasket numbers.

Apparently was subtle slow loss of power because when I got the car back it was a huge difference.

Beats me as the stock gauge can only read to25.

Make sure you take the car to a dealer that you trust. once they denied the warranty every dealer will deny the warranty because they put it in the computer. if you can attempt to do it yourself make sure you get all the gaskets I listed, you might want to talk to Joe if he wants to try, cause I'd be happy to help. I got a feeling a lot of cars are going to be having the same problem once enough of them reached the around 50,000 miles or more. hope it works out for you. Let us know.

Glad you got it fixed. Knock on wood, almost 56k, the only thing my car smoke is tires

& other cars

What kind of oil do you use & whats your OCI? Not starting an oil bashing thread. Excessive play in turbo shaft is caused, IMO by 3 thing. 1) oil starvation. 2) oil failure, (run your oil pass it's useful life, only OA's can tell your that.) 3) design & manufacturing of the turbo & oiling & cooling systems, ( if OEM don't get it right. The original turbos won't make it pass the 100k warranty.

So maybe if we start having more turbo failures, (hope not) we can start another thread. With more info. so we can find out why these turbos are failing.

The 3 bar MAP sensors with the GMPP tune are good for 28.8 psig.

Is 25 the most that you see?

Only use mobile 1 and change it way before it is recommended.

I may have a guess on why it failed but will not post right now.

Joe knows what may be the problem. Let's just say high boost pressures and leave it at that.

Maybe you're thinking of the stock LNF 2.7 bar sensors? They max out at 24.5 psig which may readout as 25.

Who knows, I just can tell you I am running strong and great and back in love.

Watchout for oil in inntrtcooler on the intake side and the inntercooler hose leading to the inntercooler from the turbo.

There may be some oil in there anyway but the tech used the word excessive. I would assume than some oil was expected there or else why use the adjetive excessive?

Back in the day, you always let your turbo cooldown, by letting the car idle for a while before you shut it off. There even created an aftermarked with turbo timers for the aftermarket turbo set up. Maybe you guys should practice letting them cool down before you twist the key and jump out of the car

Its only got 20,824 miles on it.and still 18 months Joe did the removal of the tune from up north .Now it onlf has GMPP on it .I/m taking it to Koons tuesday I took it over today and set it up.Now Time will tell

Yogi ; I have the GMPP tune also and it maxed out at 25 PSI . my Aero force gauge did the same thing 25

Chuck, Koons told me they have a Scanner that over-rides the ECM of any thing they type in it boost included.

Which koons? There are several! And I don't understand what they are talking about. Scanners overide nothing! Why would they want to overide what they put in. Not making sense!

They said this scanner can read ture Boost some how not through PCM I know as much as you . Koons White Marsh MD they service a lot of Vettes and other performance Veh.

Even with my leaking turbo, I still put out plenty of boost. I sure hope that is not how they are diagnosing the problem.

By the way, you know more than me. Unfortunately we both know more than 1/2 the dealers.

Good explanation of a turbo, wait for the middle and it explais the seals. I forgot how to post a link so maybe Joe can fix?
