« on: September 23, 2010, 04:05:24 PM »
Anyone know the torque specs for the tunnel panel bolts?  I'm installing the DDM Backbone.  Thanks.

The OEM spec was 11 ft-lbs. There was a discussion some time ago in this thread. I did mine to 11.

I think the backbone should include larger bolts.

Using longer bolts will not change the torque.

1/2" outer the thread (xtreme backbone thick) means less tight...

Solo + Magnaflow 3" exhaust
OZ Ultraleggera 19"
Rotora 4p front
Brembo 4p rear
LV Brace
Custom Backbone (1/2")

The 1/2" version does come with longer bolts :)

The 3/8" and 1/4" version do not.

The stock bolts have a little over 1" of thread to them, so with the 1/4" backbone you are engaging 3/4", with the 3/8" version you are engaging 5/8". The standard is to engage 1.5 times the width of the bolt, so since it is a 8mm bolt, you would want to engage atleast 12mm, or roughly 1/2". Since the 1/2" backbone would put it right at that limit we give longer bolts, but the other 2 thickness backbones exceed the standard.

Hope that helps,
Dave

They will loosen after a while at 11 ftlbs with the thicker plates. So add some blue locktite rather than over torquing.
