Modifying the Engine
« on: November 12, 2010, 12:27:29 PM »
Hello All:

Does anyone have any experience removing the balancing shafts in the N/A engine.  Removal of 9# of rotating mass should help.  I have been told that this is done a lot for racing engines, but that is just from two engine builders who may not be too good.   I am racing the car and it will run mostly in the power band so low RPM vibration is not an issue.  Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

Thanks Kenny,  I have the GM Manual.  :agree:

I did not ask how to do it, I was asking if anyone has any experience with it. :banghead: I don't want to :worms:

The book I mentioned does not just show how to do it. It explains what mods to do at what power levels. I think it's only mentioned for engines that are pushing 600+ hp so I don't think they would recommend it.
