Unique Gear shift-SUSPENSION GEARSHIFT KNOB
« on: March 05, 2011, 07:38:22 PM »
Not my style, but I thought it was interesting.

When shifting gear in a fast and furious way, the shock absorber fitted in the gear knob dome tilts to cushion the palm. The main body of this unit is made of billet cut and machined aluminum and the dome is die cast aluminum coated with black paint. It comes with several sizes of bushing to fit most car models fitted with a stick shift.

Ok, well what about this black pearl design?

<scoh...purrrrr...scoh...purrrrr> <Impressive...most impressive>

It looks like a round Darth Vader helmet because of the reflections.  Yes, I'm a dork.

Seriously, It looks pretty good. I have my black copolymer shift knob from JPM that I won't be using anymore. You can have it if you're in the market for a shift knob for some reason.

How did you get the old one off?

Saw a thread about removing the stock one, and man, at that point, might just be easier to change the whole rod.  I like the stock Sky RL one.  Any reason you guys don't like yours?  Or is it simply because yours have been worn/damaged?

I did change the whole shifter. I had JPM do an authentic shift knob black leather boot with a yellow stripe and yellow stitching. I wanted something better than the stock one. Eventually, I didn't like the black copolymer ball either because it was too light in weight. I called JPM and ordered a heavier steel ball instead.

I redid mine this way because i was always shifting with the boot rather than the knob. Nothing about aesthetics unless your into pepper shakers!

It is interesting in a F&F way, just wished someone would make a simple classic white w/blk shifter graphics replacement knob.  I've searched, no luck.

Yes & No.  $235 seems just a tad high when I just want a shiftknob, and yes I understand GM designed the shifter assembly so you can't just replace the shift knob, but considering how many genius's are on the GREATEST Kappa forum on the planet  ;) I hoped someone here had figured a way around that pesky little problem.
