Goat:
1. Was Lyndon's HP gain a spike reading or pretty much through a wide RPM range?
2. Was his car stock with just the downpipe or what mods did he have?
3. Was that 31HP over the stock GM Converter? If so, I wonder how much gain the downpipe would give over the Solo High Flow CAT?
Just thought I would ask. Take care and have a great day.

He did the down pipe test a long time ago, this was against the stock cat, it was before Solo had the hi-flow cat out, it was with one of his early tunes. before he cracked the boost controller so about 18 psi boost. I imagine it would be a bit less now but still significant. Gains are never cumulative. I will try and explain, these are hypothetical numbers. OK say the down pipe add 25 hp, and the intercooler, adds 25 hp and the tune adds 50 hp, if you install all three you might end up with a 75 hp gain if you are lucky, not 100, more likely 65 hp gain from all three together. That is just the way mods work, by doing all three you will likely have a smoother torque curve and cooler operating temps, more hp is not the only gain from many mods.
I imagine the 31 hp gain was a peak number most likely about 5000 rpm. I never saw the dyno sheet. If I was racing I would absolutely pull the cat, and have Lyndon do a tune for it, it is illegal in all 50 states to drive a late model vehicle on the street without a cat, but how often do they check, and do you feel comfortable doing it. In VA. they check once a year.
