I am prepared to buy new with the full allotment of credits,but thought I'd check to see if anyone might be ready to sell theirs. If we can work out a deal it will help both of us! If not, I assume straight from HPT is the best place to buy? Do any of our vendors sell?

Go for new, the value of the credits makes the new condition very valuable. New comes with 8 credits, if you buy HPT used and you have to buy credits than you have to pay 50$ for each one.

Buying directly from HPT or from a dealer is no difference from your perspective, I got mine from Dejon more than 1.5 years ago and I didn't had any issues because of that.

I think I need HPT as well! I have taken enough abuse for not having it, and I really want to be able to diagnose my own issues rather than having to bug everyone else. So keep your eyes open for me, not GJ, as he doesnt really need it

Good idea. i got mine (Standard) from the cobolt forum years ago for 200 and just shelled out the two credits for my LE5. Eventually I'll update to Pro but for tuning it was alright.

Phixious in the solstice forum had it when he sold his car but I believe he kept the HPT. He has a Viper now so you might give him a try.

My only advice when buying used is to ignore the price of the hardware when buying. It's all about credits. You need the seller to PROVE how many credits are left, if they don't know how to do it, you probably don't want to buy it from them

If someone has 0 credits left and wants to charge 250, it's not worth it, if you think you'll ever have another GM vehicle in the future. Cuz you'll need 2 for your car, and at least two for the next car, then you are almost at the price of buying new.

So I'd pay about 50-100 for the used hardware, then pay for credits, the only savings is if you won't buy credits in the future ever again, or don't wanna pay up front for credits and would rather buy them when you need them.

Also consider going with HPT Pro, then you don't have to take your computer with you to log, but then you can't see the logs until you get home. (also allows external sensors, like a proper boost gauge, turbo speed sensor, or EGT monitors for example)

Well im stuck between HPT and HPT pro. I think the logging w.o a computer would be cool, but I am not sure how useful that would be if you were going places. Like I would want to see the data on location I would think.

I would just get the standard version unless you plan on adding extra inputs to log. The standard can do the same as the PRO as far as ECM adjustments so really the independent data log and extra inputs (but you'll still need a PC to view) are the only difference as well as $200 more for Pro.

You can still use pro with the comp in your car if you want. The reason I am thinking to go pro is because I always have random problems and want to run a quick log and I don't have my computer.

I know I understand what your saying.
I on the other hand take my lappy & DashHawk everywhere with me and have a spare extra lappy battery. If I need to change my tune or read for any reason it's right there. When I had my wreck that was the first thing I did was upload the stock ECM program since the dealer was going to fix everything back to stock. The vehicle was not drivable so it had to be towed so I had to upload the stock ECM program then or just not do it and have the dealer say they can't fix to spec due to the aftermarket program.

You really think pro is worth it kenny? I cant help but think I would bring a computer if I wanted to log etc so I had instant feedback.

I know that I probably would never use the external sensor feature, but I guess you never know. I have a feeling I will go with the standard, unless I can be swayed otherwise
