Topic: Fix: I want My PMs to be displayed so the newest PM is at the top of the list

If you are viewing your Private Messages and you find you have to scroll down to find the latest and most recent one, You need to make a change in your Profile.

Go to the "Profile" tab under the KappaPerformance banner at the top of any page and on the left hand side of the screen you can see under "Modify Profile", "Look and Layout Preferences". Open that pane and click the last check box that says "Show most recent personal messages at top." Don't forget to click on the "Change Profile" before you leave this page.

There ya' go. From now on all your PMs will be displayed so the newest is on the top of the list.

Can you move our PM messages to the bottom of the list instead of at the top? Thanks.

Smartin, if you prefer to have the most recent PM at the bottom of the list, go to the "Profile" tab under the KappaPerformance banner at the top of any page and on the left hand side of the screen you can see "Modify Profile". Under that heading, click on "Look and Layout Preferences". With that pane open uncheck the last check box that says "Show most recent personal messages at top." Don't forget to click on the "Change Profile" before you leave this page.

This will display the most recent PMs on the bottom of your PM list. I hope this helps Susan.

A modification like would require more than one person to want it. That's modding the code, not changing a setting, so a change would be for ALL not just one

Sorry Susan, I misunderstood what you were looking for. What you asking would be helpful yes but not really necessary. Let me explain and I will send you a PM to illustrate my point.

If someone has sent you a PM, on the long red bar at the top of the screen under the banner you will see "Home", "Forum", "Search" etc and further along you will see "My Messages". If you get a new PM, you will see a number in brackets beside that "My Messages" tag. With two unread messages it will say "My Messages (2)".

It really works well and once you get the hang of it you will be turning this stuff off as you will find the information that it provides will be mostly redundant.

If you are looking to turn off this information as can be seen below entirely, click on the small red box to the right of the date under the banner and the information will disappear.

Again, code change for all members. Try clicking the in the bar above that section-the whole piece will disappear.

Thanks DBG for the changes. This is exactly what I wanted. To have "Show unread posts since last visit' be on top or show up first!

No problem.  The mod wasn't compatible when you asked for it before but since SMF updated to 1.1.8, someone updated the mod to work with it.  Advanced Header is nice.  I'm thinking about reducing the menu items that are duplicated.  Like My Messages and Profile from the red menu
