There were a lot of names being talked about that you never hear about normally except when the leaders passed them.  Everyone was out there racing and in hot competition.  Button ran away with the show.  Vettle ran well and got lucky at the end, Hamilton maintained his cool and ran a good race, as did Webber.  Alonzo finished 5th, 6th was Kobachi (Sauber), 7th Raikkonen (Lotus), 8th Perez (Sauber), 9th Ricciardo (Toro Rosa) 10th Di Resta (Force India).   6th through 10th are teams that only got 1-4 points all last year and they all quick.  10th place was 39 seconds behind the leader, and only 2 cars got lapped.  We are in for a hell of a season, as they all fine tune their cars.

With the pack being so tight this year, you can expect turn one to eliminate a couple of cars every race too.

Rosberg had a rear left puncture right at the end.

Grosjean the new Frenchman definitely had a bad start, but is that surprising? First race in F1, qualified 3rd out of no where? He must have been literally petrified. To me a success would have been to finish the race. So it's unfortunate that he got taken out by sloppy driving so early in the race. He gave room and still got hit. Two newer drivers, not a surprise.

Sucks for Kimi with qualy, but he turned out good. I think Lotus will do well this year. Also I'm very excited for Williams, so glad they are turning around and made a half decent car.

I'm really surprised there was no investigation on the grosjean incident.  He was there and got slammed into.  I really think the other party was at fault.

He said is gracefully at least.  I see good things for this kid and Lotus really looks to have a good car.   KR had a solid race, great result after a bad qualifying.

I don't think that's going to be a problem Critter, they can't seem to get anything right other than 1 excellent driver.

Okay let's start with 3 weeks ago.  we all thought the red car was something to laugh at we were proven wrong.  so 2 weeks, of great racing brings us to China

China

Practice and qualifying had us all scratching our heads.  What the hell is going on here?  Mecedez on the pole?  It's been 55 years.  Hamilton is penalized 5 spots so now merc has a lockout on the front row.

I'm not going to say anymore about the race, but F1 RACING is back.

Completely crazy weekend.  While Red bull was not on the podium, both of their drivers should some great skill and  in 3-5 races when Adrian gets their car back to the same level as the rest of the field it's going to get interesting.
Both Mercedes teams are really dialed in.  Total shame about a bad pit knocking MSC out of the race.
There was some awesome 2-8th place racing today.

Wasn't it only .2 of a second between best car in the 2nd round of qualifying and 11th?

Very tight competition this year. Any mistakes and you loose so much.
Look at what happened to Kimo this race. 4th to whatever in 2 laps.

Yeap 2/10's between the second and the eleventh car which happened to be Vette (11th???), I though Kimo was in second and went to like 13th in 2 laps.  Either way he went backwards fast.    I am still amazed how the lead car can get so far ahead of everyone in clean air.  Just shows how much aero actually comes into play.

Did you see Weber's wheel stand when the air got under his car?

One of the most exciting races I've seen. Elf, careful with the spoilers. Saying who didn't win is almost as bad as saying who did!

Just finished watching it.
Are we now allowed to talk about it?

It was an awesome race on a really demanding track.  Brutal on the tires.

Yes I think we should talk about it.  Talk about the tables turning?  Vettel on the pole, Vettel 1st, Lotus 2nd and 3rd.  Only a 3.3 second margin between 1st and 2nd with Raikkonen pushing him for several laps at the end.  And Lewis,  What did he lose 20-30 seconds in the pits?  Enought to put him in 8th.  And Di Resta in the Force India (where did they come from) in 6th.

A lot of good racing.  Lot of contravery about the running the race especially after a protester was killed:

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/formula-1/bahrain-gp-2012-pressure-to-call-801824

And Shu had nothing good to say about the tires:

http://blogs.bettor.com/Michael-Schumacher-criticises-Pirelli-tyres-after-2012-Bahrain-Grand-Prix-Formula-1-news-a148076

Michael Schumacher criticises Pirelli tyres after 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix – Formula 1 news

Mercedes AMG driver Michael Schumacher has criticised the new Pirelli tyres after 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix in which he faced high levels of degradation during the weekend.

The seven-time world champion qualified for 22nd place in the grid for the race on Sunday after facing five-place grid penalty. Moreover, he could only score one point in the Bahrain GP as he secured 10th place finish.

In addition, the legendary Schumacher said that the tyre management has become very crucial to achieve success in the races.

“I had to drive at a pace to manage the tyres to finish with tyres left over,” he told the BBC after the race. “We should question whether that should be the case. It's unsatisfying and not what a Formula One event should be.”

He also said that in this season Pirelli’s tyres have only suited couple of contenders despite the fact that the races so far have been won by the drivers of the four different teams with completely different car setups.

“If 80 or 90% complain, maybe Pirelli should think about it,” he added. “I don't think it is right only one or two teams can handle it and the rest struggle so much.”

On the other hand, Paul Hembery, the director of Pirelli motorsport said that Schumacher, who is now criticising the tyres, was quite pleased with the performance of the tyres during the pre-season testing.

“His [Schumacher’s] comments during winter testing were that he was very happy with the tyres, and now he seems to have changed his tune,” said Hembery.

The Brackley-based team has been deemed as the one of the most competent teams to fight for this year’s championship title. Furthermore, they have a perfect blend of experience and talent in their pair of veteran German drivers, Schumacher and his teammate, Nico Rosberg.

It will be important to mention that as compared to his compatriot, Rosberg is currently standing on sixth position in the drivers’ championship with 35 points. Besides, he took his maiden victory in the third race at Shanghai International Circuit after claiming his first pole and secured an impressive fifth place finish in the fourth race.

MSC had an amazing race.  Going from 22nd to 10th is incredible.   MB has been struggling with the tires this season, but last race, it seemed very good for both of them and they might have gone 1-2 if MSC didn't have a break down.

Vettel was amazing as he normally was and although Weber has been off the podium every race, he is the epitome of consistency.  If he keeps doing what he is doing and him and Vettel notch some wins, they are going to claim the constructors championship again
