I am going to disagree with you about Schumacher, even the last two seasons we've seen fast guys in the back come up to be in decent spots. The back markers are so slow that you can barely count them.

I also don't understand why he has beef with Pirelli about the tires. Pirelli was TOLD to make tires that wear out fast, and they did just that. He should know where to direct his comments.

I am glad Seb was only 3 seconds ahead of second place. I hope it means a close season.

Was Jensons issue the engine?
I was really surprised he pitted with one lap to go

He had a flat that threw him out of the points, then a potential engine issue, but I never saw any articles about it so I assume it wasn't a problem.

He got the tire fixed but had a really loud noise coming from the car.  Initially they thought it was the exhaust.  If so, i would say finish the race.
Im real curious to hear what it turned out to be.

"The McLaren driver retired short after with an apparent engine problem." Is all I could find.

Tis a shame

I have to say.  Lotus is scary with how much of a turn around they have had.  And they were both hunting down Vettel.  A couple more laps and it might have been
Lotus
Lotus
Red Bull
for the final podium.

pretty amazing story for that team and they sure snagged two excellent drivers.

I like seeing them do well.

It seems that there's a lot of luck involved with the temperatures of the track surface and the tires. Some teams that get it "wrong" for the current track temp end up getting it right when the track gets hotter or colder. It's very bizarre.

There was no luck this weekend.  This track is a known tire killer.  look at how fast the tires degraded compared to the first 3 races.

I think it was at play this weekend. A few teams "activated" the tires during qualy because the track warmed up.

Race day the track was cooler and Jenson just had no grip out there.  It's definitely happened at some of the earlier races as well. The teams are having a hard time "activating" the tires. Seems like there is a very narrow optimal temperature range.

these tires take a lot of setup tunning, proper warming, and a proper downforce on the tire to maintain the heat you have built into them.  Not to mention the brake bias.  But if the stars are aligned and you get it right no one can catch you, including the Ferrari in the rain and wet track.

The amazing thing to me is how close all the qualifying times are.  Not to mentioned the number of cars on the same lap when the races is over and how close they all are in time.  It should be a great year.

During practice .9 seconds seperated 1st and 10th spot.  1.3 seconds separated 1 st and 17th place.  Qualifying I'm not going to say anything about except that there are some suprises.   Race is tomorrow morning and should be great!

It starts at 7:30am, shouldn't you be able to knock that out before you leave?

I'll be on a plane.  And I doubt it will be on any of the channels offered in flight.  Another race I'm going to miss.  I will catch one this year.

So that was crazy with Hamilton.  Was he out of gas after his qualifying on pole?
I thought it did not matter how much fuel you had in the car during qualifying.  That's a harsh penalty
