The younger drivers are doing better than their counterparts ie Riciardo, Alonzo, Zains, Vettel.

That was a good race. I am not a big Ham fan but he stuck with it and ended up better than I expected he would.

They tried to make that out like Bottas caused that crash but I am not sure I agree with that. A better camera angle would have been nice.

I read an article on F1 with Totto W from MB, where he is not at all happy with Russell. Who knows maybe Russell will not be a MB reserve driver going forward.

Bottas moved to the right while Russell was passing which forced Russell into the wet.
It was only a small amount, and it was only a single move, but in the rain, stuff like this can happen. Totto is pissed because the car is apparently totaled and not repairable. They do have a money cap, so this cuts into their upgrades.

IMHO, it's Bottas fault and this is why I have that opinion.

Even with DRS, why was Bottas driving slow enough for a Williams car to be able to pass him? That just should not happen. Bottas was having a shit race and saw a Williams was about to pass him and basically pulled a mini road rage feint. When Russell corrected to avoid him, the car spun due to the rear wheels hitting a wet spot.

That is the real question why/how was a Williams catching and passing a factory Merc? Elff I don't think that was in the DRS zone, track was too narrow at that point. Ham passed Russell in the wet and look what happened to him. Into the wall trying to spin it in the gravel.

I think they did race in Portugal last year but reserve the right to be wrong.

Yes, my man Vettel made in Q3 even without the upgrade that went to his team mate Stroll. There was a comment from the announcers that he was wearing his old helmet. What if anything has to do with his improvement I am not sure. It should be interesting tomorrow at the start with the folks in the 1st 5 rows.
The medium tires seem to give an edge to MB and not RB and both will start with them, and it will be interesting at the start.

Crazy how good the cars worked on the hardest of the 3 tires today.
Great drive and result by Perez. One again, he is showing RB they made the right choice in snagging him. I wish they could have challenged MB a little more. It was more of RB not having the straight line speed and dealing with the wind, then MB being more dominant. It was nice to see Max get in there and split MB and for Perez to finish where he qualified. Alpine was surprise today. Ricciardo made up for a terrible qualifying and Norris continues to kick ass.

Sorry GJ, your moldy pink team was just outside the points but do seem to be improving ever race.

Yes, Alpine look good with a very good showing by Alonso and Ocon. The Ferraris although in the points did not do so well today. Also the old Pink team now the green team improve a bit, let's see what happens with the upgrade to Vettels car next week in Spain. I am hoping Perez and Vers can be together in the podium soon.

Just got to watch Imola. Haven?t watched Portugal yet. Skipped past those comments. Imola in the wet was fine. Nothing too exciting race wise, just some crashes and a red flag... Ham late was only exiting thing. I guess McLaren podium was good.

Qualifying was quick and really tight in the top. While Hamilton pulled out pole, I am hoping Verstappen can do something about that tomorrow. Perez had an issue with his shoulder. He was having issues during multiple runs today, so if that does not miraculously get better over night, he is going to have a rough Sunday.

Alpine and Aston Martin both improved. Hoping for some good fights tomorrow and those S turns should make things interesting as will turn 10 which looked difficult during qualifying.
Loving these 9am race times.

Yeah qualifying was good, q1 there was what .5 seconds between 4th or 5th and 15th.

Red Bull gifted MB the win today.

They should have pitted immediately after Hamilton pitted.
Hamilton made up 22 seconds after that pit stop. If RB had pitted, Verstappen would have only needed to make up at most 4 seconds. The RB had the speed on equal tires.

RB needs to adapt and react better on race day. Horner stating at the end of the race, "I am not sure what else we could have done" says it all.
What they could have done was put on better tires and let the car and driver have a chance. Worse case scenario, RB would have lost by 1-5 seconds vs 16.

I don't think RB would have been able to catch the Merc as they didn't have any mediums left only softs. Softs would not have lasted for the remainder of the race. Ham made up the 20+ seconds twice. He was driving the tires off that car and glued to the track. His team mate on the other hand didn't do him any favors even after been told not to hold him up. Ham blew his doors off as well.

The strategy of MB was the winning combination, with the performance of Hamilton. Perez at least gave the team some good points. Aston Martin once again did not get any points. Ferrari and McLaren are doing well, also Alpine is showing good form.

I'm not so sure about that. Didn't RB going longer in the first stint on the red tires with full fuel, then there were remaining laps after MB pitted the second time.
On top of that, Verstappen could have driven faster per lap on the reds for at least half that amount of time.
Just seems that RB is missing it on strategy lately. They also had that crappy pit stop.

I am hoping this isn't turning into another MB run away season.

So I would say that was an interesting race but not really an exciting race. Tire strategy seemed to be key to the win.

Why does Bottas seem to keep getting passed and then stuck behind a slow car which puts him out of contention for anything but 3rd place?

Ricardo seemed much improved this race.
