Norm's Fiberglass One-Off Hood?
« on: October 08, 2011, 09:21:06 PM »
I suspect Norm did a custom hood for Performance AutoWerks,  does this look a bit familiar?

Kinda looks like a photoshop job of the Norm's GTO style hood.  The reason I say this is because there isn't any visible lines/seams on the front of the hood.

I can guarantee it is not a photoshop, since I took the picture, and I've seen the hood in person.

I'm trying to remember where it was that Dave posted that he had just received the hood from Norm, it was just before the race before this weekend, so a couple of weekends ago.  Probably on the BB.

Hello, I have been wondering how the hood turned out, as these are the only pics Ive seen so far. Yes we built that as a one off, modding one of our GTO hoods. Thanks again for the very nice comments, Norm

Excuse my ignorance but it's still possible to modify a 'finished' fiberglass piece, right?   With proper feathering and surface preparation could someone effectively remove the intakes from the GTO hood and fill the gaps?

Phantastic!  You might have a customer soon, I'd really like some heat dissipation with this more subdued look.

If you guys are serious I would contact Norm to make it happen. A pending price increase on the hoods was announced some time ago but hasn't happened yet.

Just saying...

I'll second what Sly Bob said, call Norm, or email him, and tell him you want that hood. Confirmed orders and money talk, very loudly.  The worst that can happen is that he says no.

I like the no scoop look too. If I had to do it over, I like my scoops.

Call Norm, tell him what you want, put down a deposit and do it.  Get enough buyers and he  may make the mold. The hood is totally worth it. It's light as all get out. But you have to CALL him. Great Guy to work with. Worth waiting for custom hood. You don't pay all at once. At least I didn't. Deposit, upon hood completion/prior to paint, final completion & shipping. 3 payments. I'd imagine a bit more time to create but he can do anything.

NORM! are you still coming to Phoenix?

Sorry I don't off hand. If I guessed it would be more than half the weight of OEM or say 40 pounds. I'd take it off and weight it but the realigning would be a nightmare. Wednesdays was the best day I could reach Norm. About 6-7 his time.
