Do Kappa manufacturing tools still exist?
« on: November 08, 2011, 12:17:29 PM »
Just curious, is the tooling to manufacture Kappas still in existence?  I know the plant where they were made has been sold.
Any idea how long manufacturers keep the tooling (dies and such) for models no longer made?  Does hydro forming make it easier to recreate parts at a much later time?

I just read there is consideration of bringing Opel to the US with a possible GT.  (article shows a picture of a seventies GT)

And then there is Ford making vintage Mustang bodies, surely not with dies forty plus years old, hydro forming maybe?  So maybe in forty years we can buy new Kappas?  Gee, maybe in the near future we can buy new any car made in the last fifty years as a kit.  I can see it now, a fifty-three Cadillac convertible with a Mr. Fusion drive!  :-)
