Topic: Norm's rear valance: smooth VS diffuser

I'm looking at getting a rear valance from Norm but am undecided which to get. I'm leaning toward the more aggressive look of the diffuser one, but my wife (a fellow gearhead) is a bit concerned with the fiberglass and that I might have greater chance of contacting stuff with the fins.

Anybody with a diffuser valance ever touch with them in a driveway or back into a curb stone or anything with them?

It depends on the shock/springs you have on the car.

If you are running GM Shocks/Springs even the ZOK, it won't be an issue.
With Lower springs or coil overs, In most cases, you will contact the muffler before hitting the valence, but it kind of depends on the drop off and how crappy the roads are in your area.

It's really no lower than the stock black Valence.  Instead of having the fins drop down lower than the stock valence, he removes the space between the fins.
I hope that makes sense.

Kelu is the only person that I know has a documented case of smashing his, but that is because he runs KWs and doesn't know how to tune his suspension.

Stock suspension on my GXP with the diffuser fascia and never had an issue. I believe that the bottom of the diffuser fascia is at about the same level as the bottom of the smooth one. The diffuser fascia is higher so it can drop for the fins, if that makes any sense.

I have my Sky lowered and live on a steep driveway. I have no issues. It will contact the exhaust before the rear valance.

My car is low low lowered and I've yet to scrape it on anything, including my steep driveway. No collection in the fins any different than my original (dust particles, that's it). Norm adds two braces to keep from hitting the exhaust. I had to make mine longer since the 09 didn't have the same holes needed to brace but I love mine. I would never go back. But Smooth or Fins, your call. Either from Norm is a good buy.

My car is lowered an inch and a half, the only thing I have ever contacted with the fins are traffic cones at autocrosses   No breaks just scuff marks on the fins.

DIFFUSER. Especially if you have the dual center exhaust, it shows it off better.

Are you purchasing a new exhaust? If you are it's less expensive to purchase the valance from Solo when you buy the system.
