I bought a pair from crate engine depot about 4 months ago, while ordering some other stuff, cost was $57.00 each, plus shipping. As often as these things crack, I would put the cheapest thing I could find on my car. I had to put one on 6 weeks ago, in less than 1500 miles two of the screw holes have cracked. I am trying a hopefully better approach at mounting them.

The ol' "cracking at the holes" issue has been the topic of a few recent posts/threads.

Having put some thought into this, my approach (should I need to replace mine) will be to drill the holes a little larger.  Apply heat to reseal the hole edges.  Then squeeze in a dab of 100% silicone caulk in each hole prior to fastening with the push pins.

The caulk will set, but still be flexible, taking up any road vibrations and thus not straining the holes and (hopefully) not causing cracks in the future.

Who knows?  Worth a try.

Certainly worth a try TS. I"m happy that mine haven't cracked (yet?) since my dealer reinstalled them with only 2 screws and the rest push pins.
Just trying to do my part...

Yeah test it out soon.  I'm replacing mine in a couple of months, I had a dwarf elff climb on it and destroyed it.  It was fine when he was elff size.

Wait, I'm confused.  Is a dwarf Elff larger or smaller than a regular sized Elff?  This is very confusing.
