Got back home yesterday and tried to install my center caps. They look great! Unfortunately, I cannot get the rear caps on because the center threaded bolt on the car is in the way. I guess the only way to get the rear caps on is to drill out the center of the caps from the rear to allow clearance for the threaded bolt. I thought someone posted a picture of this issue already. What was done to resolve the issue?

Joey  if you drill the center down, what about the washer that holds it to the wheel .You would need a washer that is concave to clear the bolt also I think. How far down does it have to be 1/4 inch 1/2 inch .

This is the first I've heard of this. So are you telling me you cannot install the reap caps on the wheels? If that is the case, let me know so we can remachine your caps to fit. You shouldn't have to be modifying anything, I wouldn't like it if I purchased them!! Or are you trying to use the bolt and washer to lock them on the wheels? The O-ring should be plenty tight to keep the dishonest ones from taking them...and Joe, yours should be shipping tomorrow.

Oh wonderful. I checked the fronts, it didn't occur to me there would be a bolt for the rears. How about if you send me back two of them and I'll have them machined out? To all that purchased them, so the same, I'll pay for the shipping. I can have them back in the mail within 2 days. So sorry for the hiccup. Does that mean that all the other guys still have them in the package and haven't installed them??

Yes. I'll send back two to have them machined out. I threw out the box they came in. So, what's the address to send them to?

I have a friend right around the corner with a Solstice. His is the car I tried the fronts on. I just popped the front off because I heard it was the easiest. I will check the caps for clearance on the rears with some I have here.

Is this maybe only an issue with aftermarket wheels (with different offset from stock)?

for NON stock wheels, that's why i dealed with it. drilled the center of the caps and the threaded bolt is sticking out. painted it black to match the wheels and not stick out. it was a pite to find the right cap, so i just lived with it...

Looks nice, huh? I was extremely pleased when I had them painted and they turned out so well. Sorry, they're dirty in the pic.

I had this problem too. Dropped then with Dave at Werks to changeout with an IC. He called me and said the same thing. The rears need to be drilled out to accomodate the axle (or whatever it is). I have stock wheels etc so I don't know why they came with this problem in tow. I sen the guy a PM so I could send him the pic DAve took of the OEM cap and his but so far have not heard back....Critter

I would expect he wants you to do the same thing as I, send him back 2 caps and he will have them machined to fit properly.

Speedsport66,

I have not tried mine yet but I surely will have the same problem.  Rather than me send them back to you, how about I paypal you the cost for two made to fit the rears and you cover shipping?  What would you charge for those two, $45 for simple polished?  Posting vice using a PM in case others are interested in this as an option as well.  How about this, make me 4 rears for the same group price shipped, and I'll donate a set to the auction at MM10?
Thanks, Spartan
