I think Sky888 is a bit less than straight forward and has more money than sense. I saw pictures of his supposedly AEM sponsored meth install, what a hack job no way AEM installed it but that is what he told me. Take what he says with a grain of salt, I would ask BTF what the numbers were.

By the way I can easily get a 400 hp dyno sheet for my car, it is very easy to do just pay a dyno operator you can get whatever you want.

True, and never mind the fact that dyno's never seem to be that consistent. That's why I prefer 1/4 mile runs for gauging a car's power. Granted, time slips can be forged as well...

yeah but with 1/4 mile you have to have a good launch, and not care about your clutch or tires so that's also hard to judge.

street start 0-60 is a good measurement. some magazines use it. i'm a big fan of 60-100 times as well. since i like to play on the highway

Actually, your speed when you pass the 1/4 mile mark isn't as dependent on a good launch as you might think. Actually, I believe the speed is the number used when calculating horsepower on a 1/4 mile run for that reason.

Ah cool, I never was into drag racing so I dunno much about all the specs there. Maybe I'll go to the drag strip and do shitty launches to keep my clutch.

The intent of my question was to find out if anyone who has had the GM upgrade installed has also installed a water/meth injection kit. I realize that water/meth injection will prevent detonation by effectively increasing the octane rating, but with a motor that has direct fuel injection, how does it produce more horsepower unless you also bump up the timing. I am looking to purchase a kit and would like some firsthand feedback from users.

I dont think there's anyone so far that has GMPP + Water/Meth.  You would need to re tune for the water/meth though.   I've debated getting W/M or not.  I just dont know how safe it really is or not and everything that's involved.  From what i've seen you have to attach it to the ic pipe somewhere.

water meth is very safe if done right, like most anything. The car will actually run better, get better millage and run cleaner. You can over do it but most of todays kits are OK, the big things to look at are the spray nozzle does it do a good job of vaporizing the water/meth and not spray droplets into the charge. The biggest weakness in most systems is the pump, most are just pumps from water fountain systems and are turned back with resistors to pump way less, they pump about 100 times more than what is needed at 12V. If you want a really good system the pump alone will run about $600, the others do work for most applications. I looked really hard at doing this, I decided it was just a pain in the butt and I didn't really need it, but that may change. Lyndon Wester is very familiar with meth injection.

I originally thought about doing water/meth also, and I already have a tune for it fron Lyndon.  However, it is my daily driver and I didn't want to risk getting a cheap kit and the car not running correctly.  When someone can recommend a quality kit, or one of our vendors *cough cough DDM* decides to fabricate their own water/meth kit, then I'll start to look into it again.

I am not sure there is a complete kit I would recommend, AEM makes a nice controller, so does Devils Own, I think there kits might be a little better quality than AEM. I can tell you where to get the pump, there is a company that makes kits for Harley's that make there own pump and it can be bought separately, they might make a car kit seems like it would be easy enough for them, but I bet it would be $1500. They are pretty good, they make a 130 ci 2 cylinder V-Twin with a turbo and meth that cranks out 450 hp, just a little more than half the size of our motors and half the cylinders. They hold many many records at Bonneville. If I do a meth kit they will be involved for sure, they did the custom pipes for my Harley.

Here is a link to more than you ever wanted to know about water/meth injection from someone who does it right.

Well Lyndon offers his own water/meth kit.  I would go with this kit since obviously he trust it enough to sell it :)  Also, im not looking to go balls out either but a nice little boost would be nice :)  I want to be able to run higher octane and this seems like the most cost efficient in the long run.

Is there a how to install water/meth anywhere?  Does this have to be done by a shop?

What kind of gain can one expect from a water/meth kit on a GXP with a tune?

The meth kit installs I have seen are mostly pretty easy, there are a ton of different ways to install a meth kit, depending on where you want to inject it. It can be very simple, inject in the intercooler coupling, or very hard inject into the throttle body. There is a huge debate of before or after the MAF, if you get a very good kit with a good nozzle I would go before the MAF. Then the MAF can sense the cooler denser charge and adjust for it, for most kits I would go after as they tend to spray to big a droplet and will mess up the MAF reading and eventually the MAF. There is some really good info on http://www.alcohol-injection.com/ this is the Devils Own website. Do the research and read up on this there are a lot of variables. Lyndon does sell kits and has done a lot of them.
Here is some info on nozzle placement http://www.alcoholinjectionsystems.com/a40/Where-Do-I-Position-My-Water-Methanol-Injection-Nozzles/article_info.html
