After six years and 70000 miles it had finally happened, my battery died. Any recommendations on a replacement brands? I have always been a big fan of Diehard, but I am looking for other options as well. I have the old battery out, the car has been in pieces for a few days and the wife would like me to put it back together, LOL!

I got the Duralast brand from Autozone (the red top not the gold series). Works as advertised without the sticker shock.

Get a battery that fit's, that isn't dead, and you should be good to go.

After the results I've had with ACDelco batteries I bought a new ACDelco when it came time to change mine. Bought the long life one though.

Jeremy ; When I built my 47 in 1990 I bought a 48 month Battery from wal-mart 65.00 and had to replace it and It cost me Zero . Got rid of the Car 5 1/2 yr ago .I ended up paying 35.00 to replace it cause they now have a 36 month . the Cost of the Battery was 84.00 SO from 1989 -2007 3 Batteries cost me a total of 35.00 and change . They have Good Batteries 975 cold crank amps . Go to Wal-mart you won't regret it

I totally agree, my Sol still has the stock A/C Delco battery and its goin on 7 years, never had any trouble and I'll probably replace it with an A/C Delco, especially since my shop now carries them...

How about hooking up a good float charger and see if the battery can be revived ?

I usually don't give up on a battery until it's physically damaged. Only one battery had gone that way for me.

Thank you to everyone that had given me input today. Bosch is not available locally, Duralast is a good choice along with the original AC Delco. Still researching and should be purchasing tomorrow, pictures still forthcoming. Thanks all!

It's my understanding that Optima is now at the "total rubbish" level. I think they were bought out and have sacrificed quality for cost cutting measures.

Optima has a good Youtube clip on reviving a discharged battery using a good battery in series with a low battery. (outsmarting the smart charger) Worked well on my in laws Volvo.

I recommend you check the bottom of the fender (if you took it off) and clean it real good, bang out any dents from improper lifting and paint the rock chips. Then clean the parts around the battery area you normally cannot reach.
