Fuel Gauge reads empty when full
« on: May 25, 2013, 07:32:07 PM »
My fuel gauge reads empty and the gas light is on but I just filled the tank.   When I hookup the Dashhawk it reads 100% fuel level any ideas?  I DIC also gives the wrong Mileage to empty right now it says 55 miles.
Thanks

disconnect the battery for 30 seconds or longer and let everything reset.  That may fix it.

i had this on my 03 Audi TT (while on guarranty). as i consumed gas the gauge would go from empty to full. the dealer replaced the float (hope this is the right word).

Im not sure thats it and the reason I say that is on the DashHawk it reads the fuel level correctly so the float must be working.  I wonder if its something in the BCM or the Cluster.

Must be a bad tuner :)

I had the same tune stuck in my head for six months once. I wasn't quite right at the end of it either.  Now that I have a new tune in my head, I'm running just fine.

Interesting that the tune was the issue. Might be good information for someone in the future.

Might have been a glitch that manifested itself later or the tune reload reset it just like a battery disconnect would have Im thinking the latter.

Mine showed half a tank when I left to go to the Dells I was going to buy fuel across the border where it's not 7 bucks a gallon for premium..I ran out of gas 40 miles from town the gas gauge was oscillating between half a tank and empty..put in a new battery solved the problem or at least it hasn't come back yet.. I don't have a tune
