Topic: Fixed somewhat working fob.

My key fob has slowly but surely losing it functionality.  First it would take multiple presses to do a function, then multiple presses and stand in a certain place with one foot in the air.  Trunk would no longer open, could not lock doors, but 50% of the time the unlock may work.  I opened the remote, changed battery, cleaned the contact patches, checked the battery holder, everything was good, but barely worked at all.  I searched the web and the consensus was the back side of the buttons, the contact that is pressed against the circuit board, was having its surface worn off and would no longer complete a circuit when pressed.  Using various metal objects I found this to be true.

I then found a web site, keylessfix.com, that sells a thin plastic film with new contact patches that slips into your remote between the rubber button pad and the circuit board.  This made my remote work perfectly and my son's Malibu remote (that quit altogether) work perfect too.  I got two of these for $18 within three business days.  They make them for many different types of remotes.

Not often do I find something that "makes my day", but this was one of them.

You can also buy the rubber button part and just replace that.  There are a few vendors on e bay.

One of my G6 remotes has done this.  You can clearly see the circuit board is worn on it. So would this fix that or no because it's the board and not the button?

do you have to press the remote for the G6 ? If so this film goes between the button and the board so it makes contact

Yes. This fob also has remote start if that makes a difference.
But that's cool it can create a contact. I wasn't sure if a worn board would be a problem.
I might try this.

I would be surprised if the board was warn out, usually the rubber part has a conductive surface that wears out first.  Bring the fob to the MM and we can take a look at it, can't test it without the car of course but can probably trouble shoot it for you.
