Sorry for reviving this tread but is still on same topic.

The engine is doing great, I put like 10 000 miles on it last year and I was trying to polish the performance in autumn but when my ecu tuner tried to see if he can push it more we saw huge knock retard like 9 degrees, but only in cyl 3 & 4.

After that I ordered 3 different sets of spark plugs and we clocked the knock retard sensors to 9 hour I just did some logs on the street on low boost and the situation improved, I only see 1-2.2 degrees and only in low rpm 3000-5000rpm and it was disappear at high rpms. To me this sounds like false knock and I don't remember exactly but these values are kind of "normal" in our engine/ecu, right?

I'm planning a dyno logging this weekend to be able to push high boost safe on 3rd and 4th gear, it is ok or should I work more on the knock retard aspect before doing this?

I think you will be fine.   You will have HPT Scanner hooked up during your dyno pulls and can back off the instant you see any KR go above 4 or any Boost Spikes and make appropriate tune adjustments, then do another run.

Well I don't have boost spikes because I'm using a electronic boost controller, I have this installed since we installed the first turbo.

As far KR from HPT Scanner, yes we will stop as soon we see KR going above 4 degrees, kind of, I noticed is a little bit of lag in the scanner, something like 0.1 - 0.2s but I think is because of the communication protocol.

I did not know that I you were using a different controller than the stock one.

Even with that lag, you should be safe because you would back off when you saw it to avoid staying in high KR.
If you are doing this at the same shop, tell the guys I said hello.   That was a fun visit.  Also, take more pics of the GTR.
I'll be curious on your results.

Indeed on dyno is much more safer to log 3rd and 4th gears.

Same shop, same guys, different mechanic - same who build my engine last year, I will say hello from you. Probably they will ask me when you will visit us again  :D

I can't spend free time in Belgium anymore, I'm always in Romania if I'm free

Damn, that means I'm officially part of the Kappa Drift Team now? :)

I'm in for 2017.
Invitation for August this year was related to the baptize party but you don't know how our wedding/baptize parties are in Romania  :D

but 2017 is totally doable
We should start planning now!!
Well, 2017 I hope it will be much more relaxed for me, so it is a pretty good time.

Hey, back on topic:
Dyno was a fail, because electronic boost controller was not powering up, so I put it on the dyno only to check the false KR. Everything looks great, based on wastegate spring, I think I was doing around 1bar (14-17psi) - HPTuners scanner it was not configured properly because I have no boost recorded on the logs but the boost gauge on the dash it is working. I got 0 KR on 3 pulls on full rpm on 4th gear, only on 4th pull on 3rd gear I saw 1.2-2.2 KR but only on cyl3&4 probably because the intercooler started to get hot and definitely again "false" KR.

Pictures with the GTR and with the dyno graph later today.

Some of us know how you Hungarians party.

Is there a reason why you are not using the stock boost actuator?
That worked fine with my Garrett Turbo.
Sounds like the car is healthy outside of that part.

Since first upgrade of the turbo the greek tuner installed electronic boost controller. He prefers this way because is much easier and safer to command boost and to prevent any dangerous boost. Locally I don't trust many ecu tuners and the one which i'm using lives in Italy and he can work on my car only once every 3-6 months when he visits Romania for other big project cars. So we can change boost from 2-3 settings of the EBC which greek tuner knows very well to control rather than going into the tune. I understood and agreed with his approach.

I have an appointment this week to an electrician to look for power of the EBC, after that a short log on the street and back to the dyno logs. Problem is I can't reach the dyno place in the next 2-3 weeks because the access street is getting redone :( getting delay once more.

Wait, we don't even have this one delivered and you are planning a new one  :gaah: I'm already scared enough about the first one  :idk:

I'm in Brussels, I arrived at work at 7am, they closed us in the building and whole euro institutions area is completely closed, I'm ok and safe.

I arrived yesterday at 9am in Brussels and I'm supposed to leave tomorrow evening, they canceled all the flights until tomorrow morning at least. If they will keep the airport closed tomorrow too I  need to find a way to drive to get to Amsterdam (2,5h away) or Frankfurt (4h away) to get into any romanian flights to return to Bucharest.

Petty for the dead people, I'm a little bit scared because I recognized the departure terminal from the pictures with the bombs, I pass by that place twice per week :(

Ok, this time and this time only I will not report you

Thanks for the replies, tomorrow the adventure starts to find a way to get back home. Seems like Brussels airport will be closed but no official announcement has been made. Flights have been canceled until tomorrow at noon, my flight was in evening, I will find a way to reach Frankfurt or Amsterdam and to fly from there.
