I wish someone in Canada named Lyndon would buy one.  Then he could spend the cold winter days playing with it to see what is possible.  Just a boy and his dyno.  Fun!

I sent Lyndon the sensors about a year ago.  I thought others had sent him the tunes individually...

I think chuckdoc wants his Westers/GMPP to work without throwing codes!?
Chuckdoc are you running straight GMPP now?

i thought one of Lyndon's kappas had GMPP. Trifecta doesn't seem to be having problems with GMPP

Yup, all codes stop when I went back to stock GMPP.  Its been over a month and not a code.  I miss the power though!

Hard to say if they are having problems or not.  Would have to have automatic transmission and solo exhaust to be a similar setup.

Please believe me, I am not unhappy with Westers.  I may even put it back in the spring cause the codes and limp mode were not that much of a problem.  I just turned the car off, waited 5 min and was good for another couple of weeks.

I arranged for a GMPP package for Lyndon very early this year (half the cost of buying one in Canada) and it is installed on his drop top GXP. Last time I spoke with him he said that over the winter he would be playing with the GMPP more.

Ok, maybe we will have something really good in the spring.  Power baby, thats what I miss.  Its funny how addictive it is.  I had a regular 2006 solstice and thought that was pretty quick, then bought the GXP and thought wow, now thats power.  Then got the Westers tune and thought the GXP without was as slow as a Nash Rambler.

Now very few know it but Joe was a F18 mechanic, so I am thinking of adding a J something jet engine, now that would be boost.

Where does it end?

Looking forward to a new spring/summer Westers tune.

It doesn't end until you can lose traction in every gear I guess... :)

That J something would weigh more then the GXP but the HP to weight ratio would be huge.  Where does it end?  I would have to guess with an afterburner.  I don't think you would have to worry about traction except for maybe in the turns, the jet powered Kappa would be like crossing an air boat with a roller skate.  You would have to have quite the sound deadener package to be able to hear the radio but I would still want to try driving that beast. :drive:  Let me know when it's ready I have a friend that may be able to get us some Jet A at a good price, like maybe even free.

You can buy the sensors from the GMPD now and the connectors are available as well on line, if you have a Wester's tune he can send you the file, about $100 for parts. You won't have the Official GMPP but maybe something better. The Wester's GMPP for the manual does not throw codes, he has no access to an automatic. I hope he stores one of his Solsti at the shop so he can play. I may buy the sensors and put them on in the spring.

I spoke with Mr. Wester today, last week he had to replace 3 batteries in his cars, it was -32 with a wind chill factor of -45 just zapped the batteries. I ordered the parts from GM Parts Direct and Ballenger Motorsports, got all the GMPP hardware for $75. Lyndon will supply the GMPP tune in the spring when I install all the stuff, so I will have a Wester's tuned GMPP for $75! That's even better than eBay, of course this works out best if you already have HP Tuners and a Wester's tune like lots of us do.

Still I don't understand why we really need this in matter of power. I think is time to go to drawing board again. Where is the old topic about GMPP sensors? :)

The sensors were only added because GM had a policy of maintaining a certain amount of headroom.

Is there any advantage to using them otherwise?  I'd think that most tunes would be just as good with stock sensors, unless you were exceeding their capabilities.

I am already making more power than the GMPP tune from GM, with the stock sensors. Why did I buy the new sensors, so Lyndon would be able to use me and my car as a test mule, just like he did when he created the tunes everyone gets from him now. I like playing around with this stuff. If I really want more power there are easier ways, like changing the boost restrictor but that can be dangerous, I will try it in the spring but from SOB's testing it does not make for a good daily driver. The only advantage of the 3 bar sensor over the 2.5 bar is it is capable of holding higher boost levels before the ECM see's an overboost condition. I am not saying there is any advantage to the new sensors, but what the heck for $75 why not. I have been told the the 3 bar sensor does make more low end torque than the stock 2.5's, that by itself would be worth $75.
