code p0236
« on: July 31, 2010, 10:03:44 PM »
ok so i got the code p0236 which allot of guys get after installing the gmpp tmap sensor. car  goes into limp mode blah blah. uploaded new tune and car ran fine for a while then it start to struggle maintaining speed like the car would move back and forth bah.. limp mode. ok next day re did the wires soldered them to make sure they where all good and tight. car ran fine for a while limp mode again. car still was having problems maintaining speed. ok so limp mode again. pissed at this point. disconnected the battery couple hours later.
car runs fine now no stopping and going car can maintain speed .only problem in boost guage dosn't show boost now lol.
ive come to believe that the tmap sensor just might b bad and not the wires.
if one wire was connected to the wrong one the sensor would not work at all and no data logging would be possible ,so i think i was just sent a faulty sensor and will have to get a new one.
car was data logged several times and showed all ok.
any thoughts on this guys

I had the same problem and it was fixed with a new TMAP sensor.

OK - my turn.   :(  Filled up tank yesterday, drove home last night and to the park and ride this morning - no prob.  Pulling out of park and ride this afternoon, hit it to pull into traffic, seemed sluggish - CEL and limp mode.    :banghead:  Came home, retightened the gas cap, checked the turbo hoses (they were OK), pulled and replaced fuses 42 and 43 (right?) to clear the ECM.  Still CEL.  Off to Autozone - P0236!  My dealer, whom I trust, is almost across the street, my car is still under warranty and the engine is stock plus GMPP, so pulled in there and left it for them to deal with.

Talked to the dealer.  They are ordering a new MAP sensor - of course, will take a week.  I mentioned folks experience here about the splice - replacing the butt connectors with soldered splices.  The tech, who is really Soltice knowledgable, says he really thinks its the sensor.  I doubt I will get this exactly right but he said both GMPP sensors are measure pressure (boost and manifold) and can be swapped (at least for testing).  He swapped them and the code went away.  Swapped them back - code came back.  So, a new sensor.

Swapping the sensors cleared it up.  No codes since picking it up from that.  Fox installed the new sensor today and I seem to be cured (he says with fingers crossed).

The sensors are identical with GMPP. So yeah.

Strange that swapping them removed the code. Both of them are supposed to work, or why would we have two?

Sorry, coming late to this party, but only one of the two is used to measure temperature (one has 4 wires connected, one only has 3).  So if that temp part fails, then swapping them could easily fix the problem.

I got the same code yet again, so i swapped my MAP sensors and I will try to get my hands on one or two. I can't really ditch my car at the dealer though.. might have to just buy it

Swapped sensors, haven't popped the code yet after driving twice with it. No limp mode.

Sensors are pretty cheap now (in case you do need to buy) ~$15

Of course, now that I have had the same code again, with greater symptoms, and fixed it by redoing the crimped connections with soldered, I have to wonder if this really did anything for me other than renewing the crimped connections for a while.

In the US, yes.  I believe I got my 2 spares for $35 shipped to my door.

Heh, I guess you already found a source! But CED, or GMPartsDirect or similar all have them about that price.

3 days on track and no limp or codes after swapping my TMAPs

Why bother replacing one or both if the car works fine now?
