Chuck's computer crashed on Wed and LV got it up and running on Thurs only for it to crash again about an hour later.  I heard the harddrive make a serious wine and shudder like flushing the crapper.  I think all his data flushed out too.  I'm back now and so is chuck

Just got the new hard drive from dell in the mail.  Turns out the darn thing has a 5 year warranty and they could not have been nicer.

Now if I can only figure out which thing on the bottom is the hard drive I will be good to go.

Ok, just got the new hard drive.  Installed it and they think I am some big company.( must of been owned by someone else first) (My brother bought it for me off ebay)  They installed everything but I could not get in as needed a password.  Finally tech support gave me a password but it is mirrored for some business.  Great security huh.

Called my brother and he could not remove some of the security features as you need to be hooked into their corporation and if not norton blocks everything.  Tried to removed Norton even through regedit and it is blocked if not tied into the mother ship.

Bottom line is my brother is reinstalling the OS and deleted the whole darn partition with the mirrored system.

Ahhhhhhh! I am so frustrated.  I might need a dose of John and Joe.

When can I visit Joes Garage?  Need my Ipod cable hooked up and to blow off some computer steam.

Chuck,
Do you have the original system restore disks that came with the computer?  If so it is a simple matter to rebuild it.  If not then it will be a bit more difficult.  Give me a call if you need some help.  Or you can take it to Joe's garage, computer shack, eatery, bread and breakfast emporium.

He never received restore disks when he received the PC.  Chuck you can buy a restore CD set from the Dell web site using the service tag.  It won't be the BS image that the corporation supplied...

Thanks guys, my brother is going to give it one more try.  He just needs it to connect via ethernet cable to network and he has all the stuff and will configure it.  I just could not find the right drivers to make it connect.

He told me to call Dell, just like you guys said, but I keep thinking I can figure it out myself, so I keep downloading drivers and trying it.

Not pretty.

If I can not fix it tonight, I am bringing it to Joe's garage on Sat.  to get my new fog lights installed.  John, any interest in coming by at around 11?  For laughs and lunch?

Not on Saturday, someone in the house has a bday, and I don't think she wants to spend it watching me work on a computer, of course if the gals have some wine.....

Hey, I got my laptop working now.  I am on the net and back in business.  Turns out the only mistake I made was one of the drivers I needed, I picked a utility instead of the driver.  Reading is fundamental.

Yeah.
